This is the demo disk of G-Draft, a 2D CAD-program for all Acorn
RiscOS-Computers ( Archimedes, A-3000, A-5000 ).
The program can be used to make any technical drawing.
*) The drawings can be carried out to HPGL driven plotter or matrix
printes via files in !Draw format that are passed over to the RiscOS
printer driver. ( Bigger drawings are separated over several pages or
files .) Even export into DTP documents can be made with the Draw file
output of G-Draft.
*): not possible with this demo version.
Here come the outstanding qualities of G-Draft:
- Full integration to the RiscOS desktop.
- Very fast window graphics by means of integer calculations.
( about 8 times faster than existing applications )
- Quick display switching between drawing details.
- Interactive working possible with max. 8 layers or drawings.
- Symbols definition and their input /output via disk libraries.
- Input of HPGL files from other applications or computers.
- Most important input functions are directly accessed.
( no need to open the menu )
- Automatic dimensioning in three types including tolerances.
- Quick deletion of graphic objects.
- Quick update of pen colour, line width and line pattern.
- Realistic line width depiction in the desktop window.
- Maximum drawing size bigger than A0 format.
- Upgrade service provided to registered users.

First Steps with G-Draft Demo
------------------------------
All data on the demo disk is condensed with the Archive Filing System
(!ArcFS). Open 'GDraftDemo' as you are used with any desktop directory.
The !Run file inside !G-Draft directory limits the task memory. Before
you can change the !Run file you will have to copy the whole application
to a 'normal' disc directory because this !ArcFS is the read-only
version.
Start of the program: double-click at !G-Draft icon.
If you want to open the drawing window then you will have to click at
the !G-Draft icon on the icon bar. For loading a G-Draft file you should
open the directory named 'drawings' and handle the files ( 'G-Draft'
file icon ) as you are used to do with other RiscOS applications. Each
of the G-Draft files will always be assigned to ONE drawing layer.
There are additional small files on the disk inside the directories
called "PENS", "LAYERS" and "SETTINGS". They have the same name as the
G-Draft file but with text icon. The "LAYERS" file contains a list of
file names that are taken for input in layers 2 to 8. The G-Draft file
with the same name will be in layer 1.
You can also load a G-Draft file into the macro buffer by dragging the
icon to the drawing window ( see the macro directories named "M_..." ).
When the active layer is empty the dragged file will instantly be
overtaken to it including its name. In Version 1 this is the method to
combine the layers.
The scroll bars and the icons of the drawing window can be used as you
know it from !Edit. ( 'Instant effect window drags' should NOT be
configured - see !Configure application. )
On top or on bottom of the window appears a text line with koordinates
and function infos. You can switch over from bottom to top with the keys
"Ctrl"+"F12".
Klicking the "menu" button works like in other RiscOS applications. The
use of "select" (left) and "adjust" (right) button of the mouse is
slightly different. The left mouse button also has adjust funktion at
any graphical input whereas the right button releases a running input
status.
Most of the input functions and the preselections are controlled via the
menu. Some of them are controlled with the keyboard:
The "Esc" button has release function ( as right mouse button ).
The "Tab" button switches over to polar coordinate OR starts the macro
frame. (This depends upon the input funktion status of the program. In
polar coordinates "D=" is the distance and "An=" the angle to the
relative origin point.)
The "Backspace" button deletes the last input.
The "Copy" button takes it back again.
The "Delete" button deletes the graphical object that is caught by the
cursor ( only with the "Catch" option ON ! ).
The "Insert" button works like the left mouse button.
The "Home" button places the relative origin for relative coordinates.
("Rx=" and "Ry=" are the relative coordinates to the relative origin.)
The "Print" button overtakes the actual line pattern and the actual pen
to the graphical object that is caught by the cursor.
The "Break" button inserts a point into the line that is caught.
The buttons "up","down","left" and "right" have the same function as the
arrow icons of the window.
The buttons "Page Up" and "Page Down" zoom the picture double size and
half size.
The function keys can be programmed for quick calls of macro files
input.
For text input simply press the keyboard characters after you moved the
cursor away from the relative origin. The input of letters will start at
the relative point and goes towards the cursor. For backwards deletion
use the "Backspace" button.
