The two directories Strand & CIE contain clip-art for producing stage
lighting plans using Draw. The Strand directory contains the schematic
symbols of the Rank Strand range of lanterns. The CIE directory contains
the international symbols scaled to ╜ inch. You will probably want to add
your own lanterns, practicals etc., especially if you are using Furse or CCT
lanterns. If you've got any of those Patt 45 "Biscuit Tins" you can get
twice the light out of them by sticking some aluminium foil in the back,
behind the bulb!
The file Plan is an example of how a rig can be designed on Draw. Draw
offers great potential as a cheap and general design tool, particularly in
schools. So why not start using it in Drama too?
Hints for designing rigs
========================
Lighting bars - use a solid line of Width 4.
Lights on a common circuit can be linked together using a dashed Line
Pattern of Width Thin.
To add another lantern, just drag the file of the lantern you require into
Draw. Lights can be positioned and rotated as required. You all know how
to use draw!
Text - use Homerton.Medium at Font Size 20 (for those with the outline font
manager).
If you wish to design your own lanterns, I would recommend a Thin Black
line, and a White Fill Colour. Don't forget to group the objects!
Is anyone out there interested in turning the Archimedes into a Lighting
Desk? I can handle the software, if anyone fancies having ago at the
hardware. I can be contacted at:
