Questions and Answers
=====================
Q1 - I get a data abort when I run the startup file/when I use
slattach to configure my serial interface.
A1 - You need to install the bugfixed versions of the serial
blockdrivers that you will find in the FreeNet distribution
archive, and to ensure that the filer has seen the right
version of !SerialDev.
Q2 - My modem seems to be sending lots of data, but nothing ever
comes back - the RX light just stays dead.
A2 - You probably have a speed mismatch between that used by your
dialler, and that used by the SLIP driver (check the slattach
line in !FreeUser.Startup to see what that is using).
Alternatively, you may be trying to use ArcTerm to dial, and
then quit it without dropping the line and start FreeNet. Don't
do this, as it won't work - this is an ArcTerm bug.
Q3 - FreeNet never seems to send anything to the serial port, even
though *slstat shows that SLIPdriver has sent things.
A3 - The serial hardware sometimes seems not to wake up (this is
especially true with fixed serial links where you havn't used
a dialler). I don't know why this is, but you can force it
to wake up with OS_SerialOp,2,50.
Q4 - FreeNet refuses to find/talk to my ethernet card.
A4 - You probably have an new DCI-4 driver for your card. This won't
work with FreeNet (yet). If you can get hold of an old DCI-2
driver you should be able to use that.
Q5 - FreeNet won't work with SLIPdriver 2.xx.
A5 - Indeed. Those versions of the SLIP driver are DCI-4 drivers and
will currently only work with Acorn TCP/IP.
