<tr><td colspan="2">BackMan is a comprehensive backup application that avoids you loosing crucial data when your hard-disc crashes. BackMan supports drag-n-drop operation throughout and is very easy to configure. BackMan is very fast when backing up and has a huge range of powerful features to ensure it meets your needs. BackMan supports all removable and additional hard-drives and media types that are already supported under RISC OS.<br></td></tr>
<tr><td colspan="2">A fully multitasking directory tree display utility. It constructs a nice looking tree structure and gives a graphical display of how much space each file and directory uses.<br></td></tr>
<tr><td colspan="2">Here is a collection of desktop sprites that I use on my Risc PC, they are the best ones I could find from various sources.<br></td></tr>
<tr><td colspan="2">DiffBin reads two binary files, comparing them bytewise. Upon finding a difference it reports the offsets into the two files and attempts to resynchronise.<br></td></tr>
<tr><td colspan="2">DiscInfo provides extensive information on discs that reside under a FileCore based filing system (e.g. ADFS and RAMFS). In addition to 'dry numbers', DiscInfo also provides a graphical display of a disc's space allocation map.<br></td></tr>
<tr><td colspan="2">A graphical disc usage display. Now supports long file names and an arbitrary number of directory entries, for use with RISC OS 4 F+ discs.<br></td></tr>
<tr><td colspan="2">This program allows you to catalogue your disks (and CD-Roms), store this information in a datafile and then show contents of disks, search for files, directories and/or applications, check for duplicates, and print diskette labels.<br></td></tr>
<tr><td colspan="2">FCFS is an image filing system that allows you to read FileCore disc images. This means that you can 'copy' a whole floppy or hard disc image (ie all the disc's sectors) to your harddisc and then access it as if it was a directory. FCFS provides a desktop front end for the (multitasking) creation and restoration of disc images.<br></td></tr>
<tr><td colspan="2">FileAct can perform freely programmable operations on multiple files and/or directories, which takes the chore out of many common tasks. In addition, FileAct can be used to detect specific keypresses, and execute corresponding code (enabling keypress application launches, keypress execution of common OSCLI commands, etc..).<br></td></tr>
<tr><td colspan="2">fsck is a suite of programs for RISC OS that are able to analyse and fix E-Format discs. Basically, this means that fsck works on the most widely used filing systems (ADFS, SCSIFS, ATAFS, BDFS, EADFS, etc.) while it does not work on DOS discs, image filing systems and, obviously, remote filing systems such as NFS.<br></td></tr>
<tr><td colspan="2">For machines with RISC OS 4, if you keep the mouse still over a file in a filer window which has had its name truncated with '...', the full filename will be displayed by FullNames. It also works on the PinBoard and iconised windows.<br></td></tr>
<tr><td colspan="2">HardBack supports removable discs and long filenames (up to 255 characters), and allows incremental backups and compresses them. Restoring backups is via an easy to use Filer-like display.<br></td></tr>
<tr><td colspan="2">Zip 2.2 is a compression and file packaging utility. It is compatible with PKZIP 2.04g (Phil Katz ZIP) for MSDOS systems. This version of zip has been ported to a wide array of Unix other micros including Atari, Amiga, RISC OS, BeOS and VM/CMS.<br></td></tr>
<tr><td colspan="2">Conversions from MIME types to RISC OS types is something that many applications need to do. In a similar way, conversions to and from extensions is useful also. ANT's MimeMap module that does this is, unfortunately, copyright. My version is distributed under GNU Public Licence.
Note: Latest version fixes problems with Inet$MimeMappings being set to "", and copying files via PipeFS.<br></td></tr>
<tr><td colspan="2">This program is for quick tidying of filenames, it also replaces AddDOS. This is a much improved version and will strip DOS extensions, capitalise the first letter and any letters after hard spaces etc and remove capitals in the middle of filenames. It also can cope with long filenames. It can now add DOS extentions, set filetypes and more. Requires WimpBasic modules.<br></td></tr>
<tr><td colspan="2">Nuke, by Tony Hopstaken, is a convenient front end for Sergio Monesi's powerful utility 'nuke', which enables you to overwrite the sectors occupied by files or free space on disc, making it impossible to recover the data by means of disc editors or 'undelete' utilities. The new version is fully compatible with RISC OS 4.<br></td></tr>
<tr><td colspan="2">nuke is a small disc utility for RISC OS that allows you to erase files from the disc surface, filling their sectors with '0's or with a user-definable string. nuke allows you to erase files in a definitive way so that no disc editor or 'undelete' utility will ever be able to restore the original file's content.<br></td></tr>
<tr><td colspan="2">A pop-up utility for closing open files. Useful for cleaning up those left over when an application crashes and fails to tidy up.<br></td></tr>
<tr><td colspan="2">This application enables you to take a directory or application containing multiple files, and turn it into a single executable file which, when run, will expand itself back into the original directory structure.<br></td></tr>
<tr><td colspan="2">A utility which extends the display abilities of the RISC OS Filer, turning it into an image thumbnailing tool. When PhotoFiler is loaded, Sprites, JPEGs and DrawFiles can be shown in miniature in place of their usual file type icon. This is very useful for organising collections of bitmap and clip-art images, as it allows rapid identification of images.<br></td></tr>
<tr><td colspan="2">QuickFiler is a very useful utility which allows the Filer to be controlled from the keyboard, adding shortcut keys for many of the common Filer actions (although not all actions.)
Requires a Risc PC-style Boot structure.
New to version 1.28 is the ability to scroll around directory displays using the cursor keys.<br></td></tr>
<tr><td colspan="2">This filing system allows you to have filenames of more than 10 characters in length and directories with more than 77 entries.<br></td></tr>
<tr><td colspan="2">RealCount provides a desktop Count facility similar to the Filer but, unlike Filer, shows the real disc space that the counted directory uses together with a number of other useful statistics. RealCount can be used as a stand-alone application alongside the standard RISC OS Count or also as a complete Count replacement.<br></td></tr>
<tr><td colspan="2">Rename is a smart bulk file renamer, using Edit like wildcard syntax.
Version 2.02 corrects a bug that could cause a crash when dragging files to the Rename iconbar icon, which was exacerbated by RISC OS 4 long file names.<br></td></tr>
<tr><td colspan="2">Smart multiple file renamer, using Edit-like wildcard matching techniques. This version supports recursion down the directory tree.<br></td></tr>
<tr><td colspan="2">If you have a large number of files that you wish to rename quickly and easily then RenameF can save a lot of time. RenameF renames files sequentially, using a main name for the file together with a number.<br></td></tr>
<tr><td colspan="2">This program will open all directories - and their subdirectories on a CD. I use it to hunt on PC format CD-ROMs for graphics and the like.
