  26.   The Icon Bar <http://www.iconbar.com/> is a brand new resource for all
  27.   users of RISC OS computers. Brought to you by the same team as the award
  28.   winning Acorn Arcade games site, the new site has been under development
  29.   for several months.

  31.   The Icon Bar features all the latest news as well as everything from
  32.   program tutorials to articles on online shopping. There is also a
  33.   discussion board for visitors to post their opinions on all things
  34.   RISC OS.

  54.  4) ICGroup Quality Compliance
  55.  
  56.   The ICGroup Germany offers a special service for RISC OS software vendors
  57.   called Quality Compliance Committee (QCC). The QCC certifies software
  58.   meets some user interface criteria.

  61.   open the English section in a few weeks, at the moment there is a German
  62.   section with a database of currently certified products.

  71.  1) Cerilica Nucleus announced
  72.  
  73.   Cerilica Nucleus will be the first new RISC OS machine to contain the
  74.   Millipede Imago motherboard. The Nucleus prototype was unveiled at last
  75.   week's Wakefield 2000 Show, after a year of utmost development secrecy,
  76.   to much acclaim.

  88.   R-Comp Interactive has released the "TBA Classics" games collection on CD.
  89.   The pack contains most of TBA Software's hit games for RISC OS, all on one
  90.   CD-ROM.

  92.   Not only do you get games like BHP, Formula Two Thousand (FTT), Cobalt
  93.   Seed and DragonBall, it also includes the source code to some games
  94.   (including BHP, with support for extra tracks), as well as the
  95.   TAG/Holograph games development system used to build many of the titles.

  101.  3) WebsterXL with SSL and more
  102.  
  103.   A new version of WebsterXL, v1.95, is now available. It is a major upgrade
  104.   which includes support for 128bit TLS/SSL, improved JavaScript handling,
  105.   a new interface, better frame and table rendering, plugin support for
  106.   Flash, and more.

  112.  4) MicroDigital & RiscStation
  113.  
  114.   On May 5th, MicroDigital Ltd. and RiscStation Ltd. signed a memorandum
  115.   of understanding. The two companies have agreed to come to a commercial
  116.   understanding whereby they will participate in the development of a new
  117.   generation of RISC OS based computers, starting with an ARM7500-based
  118.   portable computer.

  120.   RiscStation and MicroDigital intend to produce new designs based on common
  121.   technologies so that compatibility is maintained across the brands.
  122.  
  123.   It is intended that other hardware manufacturers will be invited to join
  124.   this common approach to future developments of hardware for RISC OS.

  127.  5) Intelligent Interfaces Fortran software

  130.   new news page gives details of a number of new products, including the
  131.   Kinetic Risc PC.

  133.   The Intelligent Interfaces web site also includes information on their
  134.   range of expansion cards for RISC OS based computers, and their Desktop
  135.   Fortran compiler. Two of Intelligent Interfaces' Fortran Libraries
  136.   enable the large fast 66MHz SDRAM to be accessed from Fortran, and the
  137.   IFMem Fortran Library enables Dynamic Areas to be allocated and freed
  138.   from Fortran.

  166.  1) Riscster, Napster client
  167.  
  168.   Riscster is a RISC OS client for the Napster online music community.
  169.  
  170.   The Napster protocol allows users to share MPEG audio layer 3 files
  171.   directly; with a central server used to allow searching for particular
  172.   tracks.
  173.  
  174.   Riscster has been in development and testing for some time, and now has
  175.   sufficient functionality to allow searching for and downloading of
  176.   audio MPEG files.

  185.   The original version was a simple module allowing samples in VIDC format
  186.   to be played from memory as raw data. It is now more sophisticated: as
  187.   well as an extra SWI to allow linear sample data to be played in the same
  188.   way, it has got a brand new set of calls to provide a convenient API for
  189.   playing ARMovie (Replay) sound samples, either from memory or disc, using
  190.   the decompressor code provided with ARMovie.

  192.   The companion program, THPlay, has been upgraded to support DTTSamp,
  193.   Armadeus, ARMovie and WAV (MovieFS or its demo required) files, and also
  194.   provides an example of how to use THSound.
