  1. Saving

  4. The demo version of Chameleon does not allow you to save.
  5.  
  6. Chameleon allows you to save:
  7.  
  8. 1. Plain Draw (or Poster) files.
  9.  
  10. 2. Compressed Draw files (which may be loaded into 4Mation's Vector). The
  11.    compression technique has been designed specifically for Draw files and,
  12.    therefore, is extremely efficient.
  13.  
  14. 3. CMYK files: a directory containing a Draw file for each of the four
  15.    colour separations as used by commercial printers to produce
  16.    full-colour work.
  17.  
  18. 4. Spot colour files: a directory containing a Draw file for each of the
  19.    actual colours used in the file. If the number of colours is greater than
  20.    4 a warning is given. The maximum number of colour files which can be
  21.    saved is 64.

  23. When a document contains fountain-filled objects there are two additional
  24. options available:
  25.  
  26. (a) Keep data for re-editing
  27.     The fountain-filled objects are saved as tagged objects. This means that
  28.     information about the fountain fill is stored with the objects. The
  29.     advantage of this is that if the file is loaded back into Chameleon the
  30.     objects can have their fills changed. This option should be chosen,
  31.     therefore, only if you intend loading the file back into Chameleon for
  32.     re-editing. If a fountain-filled file is loaded into another application
  33.     you must not (and, in some applications, cannot) move or edit the
  34.     fountain-filled objects as only Chameleon understands the extra data
  35.     with which the objects have been tagged.

  37. (b) Plain Drawfile
  38.     When this option is selected, any fountain-filled objects will be split
  39.     up into a series of strips so that any application which accepts Draw
  40.     files will be able to display a representation of the fill. The number
  41.     of strips can be set. You will not be able to change the fountain fills
  42.     at a later date but you will be able to move and scale the
  43.     fountain-filled objects in other applications. A plain Draw file will
  44.     usually be larger than when you have used the Keep data for re-editing
  45.     option.
