This directory contains demonstration versions of the pick of commercial software for the Archimedes. For full details on each of the programs, consult the documentation supplied with it.
The programs are stored in individual directories, mostly indexed according to the name of the program. These directories are grouped for convenience into three other directories: A to I, J to R and S to Z.
There is a list of software houses at the end of this help file, with contact numbers.
The demos included are as follows:
• Advance: a rolling demo of the integrated package from Acorn.
• Anglia: a multimedia presenation of Anglia TV’s CD-ROM titles, and some sprites of the CD-ROM disc covers.
• Archiboard: a pre-release demo of the BBS software from Supreme Software Systems Ltd.
• Arcturus: a demo version of the game from Oregan.
• ArtWorks: a CableView presenation showing the featores of the vector graphics package from Computer Concepts.
• Asylum: a demo version of the game from Digital Psychosis.
• AudioWorks: a demo version of CC’s sample editor, with some fun samples.
• Basic_AOF: a version of Oregan’s AOF-format BASIC Assembler package which will process only the example files supplied.
• Betsi: a demo of 4Mation’s Elizabethan adventure showing life in 16th century Englang from the point of view of a dog.
• BigBang: a demo version of the new game from Psycore.
• Blinds: a demo version of the new desktop utility from Quantum Software.
• Chameleon: a demo of 4Mation’s utility for changing colours on Draw files.
• CineWorks: a Replay file demonstrating some of the effects possible with Oregan’s editing software – note that this should be played using ARMovie rather than being loaded into ARPlayer.
• ClearView: an evaluation copy of ClearView and information on DEC-Data’s products, presented using the ClearView Hypertext document reader.
• Darryl: a demo version of 4Mation’s Darryl the Dragon educational software.
• DBEdit: a demo of DBEdit, a powerful text editor from 4Mation, along with two utilities which communicate directly with it.
• Dinosaur: a demonstration of Dinosaur discovery from 4Mation, the educational problem-solving package from 4Mation.
• DrawChange: a demo of Draw_Changer from DEC_Data, for manipulating the colours in Draw files.
• DuneII: an exclusive demo version of the game from Eclipse, with the full intro sequence which sets the scene for the game, and one demo level. The intro sequence, which may be copied to an existing copy of the game by anyone who has already bought it, is only available on this CD-ROM, although it may be included in a possible release of Dune II on CD-ROM by Eclipse later this year.
• Fervour: a demo of the game from Clares.
• Flossy: one scene from the 4Mation educational package Flossy the Frog.
• Granny: One scene from Granny’s Garden, 4Mation’s educational adventure.
• Gwen: a demo of Gwen Goes to School, one of Wyddfa Software’s Talking Stories.
• Hamsters: a few levels of Gamesware’s addictive if brutal platform game.
• Hatchback: a demo of 4Mation’s utility for turning coloured Draw files into Draw files with hatched b/w shading.
• ImpactPro: a demo version of Circle Software’s professional database.
• iSV: demo versions of iSV’s font software and other products.
• KO2: a read-only version of Clares’ Knowledge Organiser 2 package, with an example file.
• LabelStar: a demo version of Circle Software’s label printer.
• Langdale: a complete module from Creative Curriculum Software’s Langdale CD-ROM.
• Larger: a version of Larger, the replacement backdrop from Warm Silence Software. This can either be installed as a time-bombed version, or as a fully working copy with the correct installation code, which can be supplied by WSS.
• Magnetiods: a demo of the 3D asteroids game from Oregan.

• Morpheus: a demo of the impressive morphing software from Oregan.

• WoodBirds: a slection of files from CCS’s Woodland Birds CD-ROM, which teaches students about British woodland birds and their habitat.
• Xenakis16: a demo, pre-release version of Xenakis16, a 16-bit soundtracker player for Risc PC owners with Minnie sound cards.
• XStich: a demo of iSV’s cross-stiching package.
• Zenta: a selection of fonts from the Zenta font emporium CD-ROM.
