  1. DOOM 3 Generator v1.0 - By Matthew Ayres

  3. Interested in using your DOOM 1 WADs with DOOM 2?  Well now you can!
  4. Use this little utility to create a copy of DOOM 3 (17 megs complete,
  5. the .WAD alone is only 15.5 megs).  It basically creates DOOM 3 from
  6. DOOM 2 and all the left out textures and floors from DOOM 1.  This
  7. program REQUIRES that you have registered copies of both DOOM 1 and
  8. DOOM 2 (and not pirated copies!!  if you have a pirated copy, send
  9. ID their money before you run this!, they deserve it for christ sake).

  11. The only thing you have left to do to run a DOOM 1 WAD is run MAKEMAP
  12. on it.  This will convert 5 bytes of the WAD from the ExMy format (like
  13. E1M1) to the MAPxx format (like MAP01).

  15. Information about DOOM3GEN and how to use it is contained within the
  16. program itself.  Run it.  You have the option to abort if for any reason
  17. you do not feel it's safe to continue.  Use DOOM3GEN at your OWN risk!

  19. DOOM3GEN is FreeWare, if you feel like sending me money :) please take a
  20. look at WADED (DOOM map editor).  If you like WADED, then please register
  21. it.  Registering WADED, I feel, is reasonable compensation for the time
  22. it took me to write DOOM3GEN.  The program is a little more complicated
  23. than your could probably imagine.

  25. Most likely there will be another release of DOOM3GEN, I'm next going to
  26. try to find a way to include all the original DOOM 1 maps into DOOM 3,
  27. making DOOM 1 and DOOM 2 completely useless.  The only thing anyone would
  28. ever need is DOOM 3, which is only 17 megs!  With the DOOM 1 maps, it will
  29. be about 19 megs.  DOOM 1 and DOOM 2 take up 28 megs, so you'd be saving
  30. 9 megs of space.  I'll be working on it...
