- 1. Employ "time burst" on liftoff and star the action.
- 2. Use rockets to attack blimps, and advance on them from the rear,
- front or above but don't attack them from a level position.
- 3. Avoid bombing from low altitudes.
- 4. Use of the rudder pedals and the F7 target view are important to
- success. Use F7 to see where the enemy is. Use it again to find out
- where your bullets are going.
- 5. There is no mode in which you are invincible so keep repeating
- missions until you complete them.
- 6. Employ Shift-F6 to find ground targets and Control-T to lock-on
- them. Avoid destroying civilian building so that your men won't come
- after you.
- 7. For your first Zeppelin Run encounter with the purple planes, stay
- at full throttle, stay lower than them and let them fly over you.
- 8. Choose one of the planes on the outside part of the formation
- using the "T" button. Do a hard break turn to go behind him.
- 9. If it fails, leave him and go after another lone guy.
- 10. Take advantage of your greater maneuverability by, for example,
- going into dives and then pushing the throttle way up.
- 11. Try using a modified Split-S, which involves doing a 180 degree
- roll, then pulling back on the stick so that you end up facing the
- other way.
- 12. Another method is to take the nose down and at the same time
- banking hard to the left or right. When you get a 30 degree pitch,
- pull back hard. It slows you down a bit but does the trick.
- 13. In the next scene with the Zeppelin and the green planes, be
- careful that you do not allow the planes to lure you in close to the
- Zeppelin.
- 14. After getting rid of the planes, advance toward the Zeppelin a
- little high, and use some of your eight rockets to down it.
- 15. If you fail, use the same approach but use the unlimited ammo.
- 16. For the Bombers mission, take the SE5.
- 17. For the begging two Fokkers, eliminate them quickly and come out
- of the engagement unharmed if possible.
- 18. Because the bombers have rear gunners, approach them from the
- sides repeat until they are eliminated.
- 19. Stay a bit higher than them when you come in for a run, and
- after, do an Immelmann to ready another pass.
- 20. Your pals will handle the escorts so don't worry about them.
- 21. When you encounter the three Fokkers on the way back, try to keep
- them in front of you.
- 22. If you're engaging them having suffered significant engine
- damage, dive a lot to keep your speed up.
- 23. The optimal time to rudder is going into, or out of, a Break
- Turn. In Bank Turns they tend to lower your nose which isn't very
- helpful.
- 24. A moment prior to pushing the stick to start a Break Turn, push
- the rudders in the same direction.
- 25. As you're coming out of the turn, push the rudders in the
- opposite direction of your turn but wait to you've begun to level
- off.
- 26. Use the rudder in pursuit situations where the enemy begins a
- dive. Rather than having your stick pulled all the way back, which
- affects the radius of your turn, use the rudder to allow your nose to
- dip.
