- Star Crusader
-
- 1. Practice and master of fighting in close, as weapons from long
- ranges do very little.
- 2. When engaging an enemy, keep the mission goal in mind. Does honing
- in on a single craft or going after stray fighters help complete the
- objective? If not don't do it.
- 3. In a minefield, search for the head-mine, which shows up as a red
- flashing spot on your radar screen. But you still have to avoid the
- remaining live mines, of course.
- 4. A good tip is to become familiar with the traits of your primary
- wingmen. On the Gorene side, for example, Krugon Dept is a good
- pilot but tends to duck out of battle when his vitals are low. Kara
- Helmar, on the other hand, will be very protective. Know your team
- and their reactions.
- 5. Never underestimate the power of a personal insult. If you find
- yourself in a jam, use your communication equipment to slur an
- enemy's name. There is a chance that he will drop what he was doing
- and come after you. Try the same thing on enemies who are attempting
- an escape...they might come back.
- 6. Gorene vessels are good if you want to take an aggressive stance.
- This is due to their auto-repair functions and large fuel capacities.
- Their ships are also similar too one another so it is easy to hop
- over to a new ship and know what you are doing.
- 7. Should you decide to play for the Gorene side, your effectiveness
- will largely depend on how well you know your torpedoes and how they
- perform and react. If you're limited for weapons, use them at a
- battle's decisive moment. In dealing with shields, the best tactic is
- to keep the pressure on so as to not allow the shields to regenerate.
- 8. If you choose to play for the Alien Alliance, you will have a
- variety of ships to choose from. For heavy fighting, use the Tancred
- Warlord. The Amien Guardian on the other hand is a good capturing
- ship. The variety of the Alliance's ship is a strength as well as a
- drawback. In contrast to the Gorene ship, you must learn how to fly
- different ships. More strategy will need to be employed when playing
- for the Alliance.
- 9. Send your finest pilots to the pilot academy to become aces. It
- will also allow for a steady stream of fresh recruits.
- 10. In large battles, avoid being caught in the crossfire by staying
- close to capital ships. If you find yourself in a large cumbersome
- ship fighting a more agile ship, speed away, turn around and fire, or
- ram right into them head first and ram them.
