  7. We hope that you have as much fun using this product as
  8. we did making it.

  10. Here are a few simple quick start instructions:
  11.  
  12. 1) The directories WAD1 and WAD2 contain a total of 1000 Doom
  13.    levels for your enjoyment (there are 500 in each directory).
  14.    They are on the disc this way so you can use WadManager to
  15.    easily select which .WADs you'd like to play.  These levels
  16.    are for the registered version of Doom which is not included
  17.    on this CD.  They were originally designed to work with Doom
  18.    versions before 1.666 and may not work with version 1.666 or
  19.    later.  The registered version of Doom is available from:
  20.  
  21.    ID Software at 1(800)-IDGAMES
  22.  
  23.    We have, however, included the shareware version of Doom 1.2
  24.    and the shareware version of Doom 1.666.  Remember, the .WAD
  25.    files will not work with the shareware versions, only with
  26.    the registered versions.

  28. 2) The directory WADS1666 contains all of the .WAD files that
  29.    are known to work with Doom 2 (version 1.666).  There are only
  30.    two .WADS in here -- remember --  Doom 2 was just released!
  31.  
  32. 3) The directory DOOMWADS contains most of the .WAD files that
  33.    WAD1 and WAD2 have, but each in their own sub directories
  34.    with their respective documentation.  There may be information
  35.    or a README in each subdirectory telling you more about that
  36.    particular .WAD file. Please see the README.TXT file in
  37.    DOOMWADS for list of sub-directorys and discriptions.

  39. 4) The directory DOOMFAQS contains files and information referred
  40.    to as Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs).  Read these for tips
  41.    on difficult sections, cheats, new methods of playing, hints
  42.    and just about anything you could possibly think of about Doom.
  43.    Please see the README.TXT file in DOOMFAQ for list of sub-
  44.    directories and descriptions.

  68. The programs on this CD were designed to be executed from a
  69. hard drive.  Although some of the programs may work from the
  70. CD, we suggest installing them on your hard drive for best
  71. working results. This can be easily done by copying the whole
  72. directory to a sub-directory on your hard drive.

  76. 1)DOOM is a fast-moving virtual reality game in which you are
  77. plunged into a brutal 3-D world.  To escape alive, you must
  78. outfight legions of grisly fiends and solve DOOM's lethal
  79. puzzles.  You play a marine equipped with a variety of weapons
  80. and technological artifacts, but in the end it comes down to
  81. who's tougher: you or them.  Note: DOOM portrays graphic
  82. violence and may not be suitable for younger children.
