This file is the result of many painstaking hours of posing, developing,
scanning, resizing, and repainting the animation frames necessary to
substitute Joe Office Worker (played by me) into DOOM, the absolutely
fabulous game brought to you by id software, without whom we would all
actually have to do work at work.
For all of us fortunate enough to have networks at the office and to
not have received memos banning DOOM from those networks, this will allow
you to hunt down Joe Office Worker instead of Joe Space Marine. Trust me,
it adds wonderfully to play in an office to blow away a guy in a tie instead
of the generic DOOM opponents.
To install, copy all the files to your DOOM directory and type PLAYIN
This runs the DMGRAPH program (included) but does NOT back up your
DOOM.WAD file. With all the add on things for DOOM out there I find it
useful to keep a complete backup of doom in a subdirectory.
If you are not fortunate enough to have a network, type POSSIN and the
normal trooper graphics are replaced by yours truly. This is not as fun
but is interesting enough.
This was created for the purpose of persuading the fine, wonderful, kind,
generous, understanding folks at id software that we would REALLY like it
if they would change DOOM so that in deathmatch play it is possible to
see what weapon your opponent has armed. If I notice that my esteemed
colleague is carrying but a pistol, I will chase him down. If, however,
I notice that my opponent has the BFG, I will run like the wind. Let's
face it, it's pretty lame that the generic DOOM graphics cause you to
see a generic rifle pointing at you when in fact you're about to get it
from a rocket. Worse yet, when you're in a chainsaw fight and you can
still see that generic gun (boo) bobbing around. Yes, I do have an idea
of many frames of animation this would add and how large this would be
(obviously, since I created this patch here) but I think everyone would
agree that this would add tremendously to deathmatch play.
Alright, I'm finished blabbing. Questions, comments, suggestions?

This file was made possible by:
Alex Vandertol as the poser
Chris Lagestee as the photographer
A Macintoch IIcx with color flatbed scanner
NEOPAINT for graphic cleanup and touch-ups
DISPLAY for PPM conversion, sizing, and smoothing
DMGRAPH for the ability to insert graphics into DOOM.WAD
The Supersoaker used as the generic weapon (boo) used.
And, of course, the geniuses at id for giving us DOOM.
