  27. Differences between the retail and demonstration versions of SystemScanTools.
  28.  
  29. The retail version allows:
  30.      1) printing results of scans
  31.      2) saving scan results to files
  32.      3) stopping processes
  33.      4) viewing the "users" of active processes (i.e. Which program is dynamically
  34. linked to a DLL)
  35.      5) deleting files
  36.      6) scanning drives other than the "C:" drive
  37.      7) DLL database scanning (see DLL.DAT in the help file)
  38.      8) Miscellaneous hardware and system software information.
  39.      9) Viewing version information for 32 bit NT and Win95 files.
  40.     10) Drag and drop of saved files.

  45. Removing SystemScanTools Demonstration from your hard disk.
  46.  
  47. This installation of SystemScanTools 1.02 Demonstration consists of these files placed
  48. in the suggested directory C:\sysscan:
  49.  
  50.      1) sysscan.exe
  51.      2) sysscan.hlp
  52.      3) readme.txt
  53.      4) logfile.out
  54.      5) toolhelp.dll
  55.      6) ver.dll
  56.      7) sst.cfg
  57.  
  58. Setup for SystemScanTools places these files on your hard disk.  If you wish to
  59. remove SystemScanTools from your computer, take the following steps:
  60.  
  61.     1)  Start File Manager or equivalent
  62.     2)  Select the directory that SystemScanTools was installed into.
  63.     (Typically C:\sysscan)
  64.     3)  Delete the directory by selecting FILE, then DELETE.
  65.     4)  Exit File Manager.
  66.     5)  Select the SystemScanTools group in Program Manager.
  67.     6)  Delete the SystemScanTools icons by selecting them one at a time so
  68. they are highlighted, then pressing the delete key for each one.
  69.     7)  Delete the SystemScanTools group by selecting it and pressing delete.
  70.     8)  The removal of SystemScanTools from you system is now complete.

  72. SystemScanTools does not install any DLLs in the Windows or Windows\System directories.
  73.  
  74. SystemScanTools creates a SYSSCAN.INI file in the \Windows directory.  It may be deleted.

  153. The following license agreement covers the retail and demonstration versions
  154. of SystemScanTools except as noted.

  156.                   SYSTEMSCANTOOLS SOFTWARE LICENSE AGREEMENT
  157.  
  158. THIS IS A LEGAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN YOU, THE LICENSEE, and Northwest Performance Software. 
  159. BY USING THIS PROGRAM, YOU ARE AGREEING TO BECOME BOUND BY THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT.
  160. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT, PROMPTLY RETURN THE DISK PACKAGE
  161. AND THE ACCOMPANYING ITEMS (INCLUDING WRITTEN MATERIALS AND BINDERS AND PACKAGING) TO
  162. THE PLACE YOU OBTAINED THEM FOR A FULL REFUND.

  164. Limitations for SystemScanTools Demonstration Version.  This paragraph applies only to
  165. SystemScanTools Demonstration: Northwest Performance Software grants to you a nonexclusive
  166. royalty-free, right to make and use an unlimited number of copies of SystemScanTools
  167. Demonstration, provided that each copy shall be a true and complete copy, including all
  168. copyright and trademark notices.  The paragraphs entitled "Grant of License", "Limited
  169. Warranty" and "Customer Remedies" do not apply to SystemScanTools Demonstration.  All
  170. other paragraphs not specifically named are retained and apply in full.  NO WARRANTIES.
  171. Northwest Performance Software expressly disclaims any warranty for SystemScanTools
  172. Demonstration.  SystemScanTools Demonstration and any related documentation is provided
  173. "as is" without warranty of any kind, either express or implied, including without
  174. limitation, the implied warranties or merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose,
  175. or infringement.  The entire risk arising out of use or performance of SystemScanTools
  176. Demonstration remains with you.  This concludes the paragraph entitled Limitations for
  177. SystemScanTools Demonstration Version.
  178.  
  179. Grant of License.  Northwest Performance Software grants to you the right to use one
  180. copy of the enclosed software program, SystemScanTools, (the "SOFTWARE") on a single
  181. computer.  The SOFTWARE is in "use" on a computer when it is loaded into temporary memory
  182. (i.e. RAM) or installed into permanent memory (e.g. hard disk, CD-ROM disk, or other
  183. storage device) of that computer.  However, installation on a network server for the
  184. sole purpose of distribution to one or more other computer(s) shall not constitute "use"
  185. for which a separate license is required, provided you have a separate license for each
  186. computer to which the SOFTWARE is distributed.
  187.  
  188. Copyright.  The SOFTWARE is owned by Northwest Performance Software and is protected by
  189. United States copyright laws and international treaty provisions.  Therefore, you must
  190. treat the SOFTWARE like and other copyrighted material (e.g. a book or musical recording)
  191. except that you may either (a) make one copy of the SOFTWARE solely for backup or archival
  192. purposes, or (b) transfer the SOFTWARE to a single hard disk provided you keep the
  193. original solely for backup or archival purposes.  You may not copy the written materials
  194. accompanying the SOFTWARE.  EXCEPTION: The Demonstration Version of the SOFTWARE may be
  195. copied within the limitations specified in the paragraph entitled Limitations for
  196. SystemScanTools Demonstration Version.
  197.  
  198. Other Restrictions.  You may not lease, rent or sub-license the SOFTWARE. You may transfer
  199. the SOFTWARE and accompanying written materials on a permanent basis provided you retain
  200. no copies and the recipient agrees to the terms of this Agreement.  You may not reverse
  201. engineer, decompile, or disassemble the SOFTWARE.
  202.  
  203. EXPORT CONTROLS.  None of the SOFTWARE or underlying information or technology may
  204. be downloaded or otherwise exported or reexported (i) into (or to a national or resident
  205. of) Cuba, Iraq, Libya, Yugoslavia, North Korea, Iran, Syria or any other country to which
  206. the U.S. has embargoed goods; or (ii) to anyone on the U.S. Treasury Department's list of
  207. Specially Designated Nationals or the U.S.  Commerce Department's Table of Deny Orders.
  208. By downloading or using the SOFTWARE, you are agreeing to the foregoing and you are
  209. representing and warranting that you are not located in, under the control of, or a national
  210. or resident of any such country or on any such list.
  211.  
  212. U.S. Government Restricted Rights.  The SOFTWARE and documentation are provided with
  213. RESTRICTED RIGHTS.  Use, duplication, or disclosure by the Government is subject to
  214. restrictions as set forth in subparagraph (c)(1)(ii) of The Rights in Technical Data and
  215. Computer Software clause at DFARS 252.227-7013 or subparagraphs (c)(1) and (2) of the
  216. Commercial Computer Software--Restricted Rights at 48 CFR 52.227-19, as applicable.

  219. LIMITED WARRANTY
  220.  
  221. Limited Warranty.  Northwest Performance Software warrants that the retail version of the
  222. SOFTWARE is properly recorded on the disk media.  This warranty extends for sixty (60) days
  223. from the date of purchase.  There is no warranty after the expiration of the warranty period.
  224.  
  225. Customer Remedies. Northwest Performance Software's entire liability and your exclusive
  226. remedy shall be, at Northwest Performance Software's option, either (a) return of the price
  227. paid, or (b) repair or replacement of the SOFTWARE that does not meet Northwest Performance
  228. Software's Limited Warranty and which is returned to Northwest Performance Software with a
  229. copy of your receipt.  This Limited Warranty is void if failure of the SOFTWARE has resulted
  230. from accident, abuse, or misapplication.  Any replacement SOFTWARE will be warranted for the
  231. remainder of the original warranty period or 30 days, whichever is longer.  In no event
  232. shall Northwest Performance Software's liability exceed the purchase price of the SOFTWARE.
  233.  
  234. NO OTHER WARRANTIES.  To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Northwest
  235. Performance Software disclaims all other warranties, either expressed or implied, including,
  236. but not limited to, implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular
  237. purpose, with regard to the SOFTWARE, the accompanying written materials, and any
  238. accompanying hardware.  This limited warranty gives you specific legal rights.  You may have
  239. others which vary from state to state.
  240.  
  241. NO LIABILITY FOR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES. In no event shall Northwest Performance Software or
  242. its suppliers be liable for any damages whatsoever (including, without limitation, damages
  243. for loss of business profits, business interruption, loss of business information, or any
  244. other pecuniary loss) arising out of the use of or inability to use the SOFTWARE, even if
  245. Northwest Performance Software has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
  246. Because some states/jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of liability for
  247. consequential or incidental damages, the above limitation may not apply to you.

  249. This agreement is governed by the laws of the state of Washington.
