  5. E is an object oriented / procedural / unpure functional higher programming
  6. language, mainly influenced by languages such as C++, Ada, Lisp etc.  It is a
  7. general-purpose programming language, and the Amiga implementation is
  8. specifically targeted at programming system applications.  The number of
  9. features of the language is really too great to sum up entirely, and include:
  10. speed of >20000 lines/minute on a 7 Mhz amiga, inline assembler and linker
  11. integrated into compiler, large set of integrated functions, great module
  12. concept with v40 includes as modules, flexible type-system, quoted
  13. expressions, immediate and typed lists, parametric and inclusion polymorphism,
  14. exception handling, inheritance, data-hiding, methods, multiple return values,
  15. default arguments, register allocation, fast memory management, unification,
  16. LISP-Cells, gui-toolkit, (macro-) preprocessor, very intuitive and powerful
  17. source-level debugger, easy .library linking, and much more...

  21. This _distribution_ is Freeware. It contains only a limited compiler,
  22. a registered compiler is available separately.
