ClaimMem
v 1.00 (09-Feb-1997)
This program is Freeware.
This means that you can copy this program to anyone you like, and generally
do with it as you please, except make money from it. There's a very good
reason for this : I'm sufficiently mercenary that the fact that I've
released the program as freeware means that to most people it's not worth
the disk space it occupies. If you feel that you want to make money from it,
you'll have to buy it off me - and that would be expensive. :-)
The only person who is allowed to make money from this program is me, and
I'm choosing not to. So there.
If you do copy the program it should be in its original format, with ALL of
the accompanying files. These are :
!Boot, !Help, !Run, !RunImage, !Sprites, Messages, Sprites, Templates
Purpose
-------
Grab all available memory.
Er, why??
---------
Sometimes when I'm developing programs I want to test how they react when
they don't get enough memory. Rather than always opening the task manager,
dragging, eg, the RAM disk up to some huge limit, I wanted just to be able
to click on an icon. So I wrote this.
To use
------
Run the program, it installs on the icon bar. Click on the icon on the
icon bar, it grabs as much memory as it can. Click again, it releases the
memory.
As you might imagine, clicking menu opens a menu. It offers 'Info' and
'Quit'.
So there you have it : It's not terribly complicated, and it's not
terribly useful.
Bugs & Improvements
-------------------
Please report any bugs found and any possible improvements you can think of
to me at the address shown below.
I should probably keep track of programs closing down and other memory
becoming available and grab all of that, if the memory is claimed, but I
really can't be bothered. Just double click on the icon (to release then
re-grab the memory) if some memory is released.

the connection for that one :-)
