  8. This directory is a public repository for platform specific files including
  9. build files for binary package distributions for specific operating systems
  10. as well as for source file distribution packages for those systems.
  11.  
  12. As such, the files contained here are intended for use only by those wishing
  13. to build their own distribution packages and are NOT considered suitable
  14. material for anyone who wants to just install Samba from the pristine source
  15. files contained under the ~/source directory.
  16.  
  17. All contributions / modifications / additions / etc. to the packaging files
  18. should be sent to samba-bugs@samba.anu.edu.au with the subject marked:
  19.     PACKAGING: [add|mod|contrib] Your subject.
  20.  
  21. Should you, or anyone you know of, have package build instructions and/or files
  22. that may be of use to the wider community of Samba users please mail the above
  23. account with subject:  PACKAGING: [avail] OS xxxxxxxxxx
  24. where xxxxxxxxxx is the operating system platform that may be contributed.

  26. We will contact the person who is offering to contribute package build details
  27. to ensure that their contribution can be included in the official Samba sources.

  29. In the event that anyone wishes to contribute package build information please
  30. indicate in your response how we may access a suitable system to ensure our
  31. ability to keep the binary distribution itself current with the released source.
  32.  
  33. The future of cooperatively developed software such as Samba depends on the
  34. willingness of all partners to share the fruit of their labours.
