- This screenshot shows off Afterstep, as well as Linux. The screen looks
- really nice, with colorful icons and the afterstep control panel. Here are
- some things to note:
-
- The pull-out menu with texture buttons. These will start an rxvt with that
- texture as the background. This allows you to visually select a nice rxvt
- (with xpm support) terminal.
-
- I just ftp'd the latest Linux kernel. the Download rate is about 10KB/s.
- I've getting this via an ISDN TA attached to my standard (16550 uart)
- serial port. Now look at the interface statistics in the upper left. Hardly
- any drops, even when capturing the screen. The CPU utilization was also
- quite low. This is no surprise to Linux users. I've tried similiar things
- with Windows NT (multi-boots on this same system), and it barfs. It simple
- cannot service the uart interrupts fast enough. I drop so many packets that
- it's unusable.
