Long desc: ConText is a simple utility that does two
useful things. First, it lets you convert
text from one arbitrary codepage to
another (i.e., character byte values are
changed as needed to preserve the original
meaning of each character under the target
codepage). Second, it also supports the
pasting of Unicode text (such as may be
copied using one of the Mozilla products)
from the clipboard, converting it into the
selected target codepage on the fly.

typing Japanese text.
Long desc: IMERJ is a "poor man's" Japanese input
method editor, which allows you to enter
Japanese kana by typing romanized text in
the edit window. It is intended primarily
for use on non-Japanese systems where a
proper IME is not available. Input is kana
only - kanji conversion is not supported.
IMERJ is free software licensed under the
GPL.
