  1. The directories in this directory contain the source for the VOGLE library.

  3. They are as follows:
  4.  
  5.     docs        contains the documentation such as there is.
  6.  
  7.     drivers        contains the source to a variety of device drivers,
  8.             currently restricted to: postscript, sun workstation, 
  9.             apollo workstations, X11 (R4 & R5), tektronix 
  10.             (401x), hpgl, dxy, and the ibm pc cards: hercules mono,
  11.             cga, ega, vga and sigma, MS-windows and HP graphics
  12.             terminals..

  14.     examples    contains some C and FORTRAN programs useful both in
  15.             testing and (hopefully) learning how to use it.
  16.  
  17.     hershey        contains the source for generating fonts and the
  18.             hershey data for the occidental and oriental character
  19.             sets.
  20.  
  21.     src        contains the source for the C VOGLE interface, and the 
  22.             source for the FORTRAN and PASCAL interfaces where 
  23.             available.

  25. VOGLE is a device portable graphics library that is loosely based on the
  26. Silicon Graphics Iris GL.  It was also inspired partly by the DIGS library 
  27. developed at the U.S. Naval Academy under the guidance of Prof David Rogers.

  29. As we will be continuing development on VOGLE we will gratefully accept any
  30. bug fixes or enhancements such as new drivers, etc... People here mainly use it
  31. to move engineering type software between IBM PCs and Sun workstations but we
  32. expect not only our equipment, but our requirements to change, so if you find
  33. it usefull for anything in particular we wouldn't mind hearing from you as
  34. well.

  36. VOGLE has been used by others as the basis of several Silicon Graphics GL
  37. compatible libraries. The authors of VOGLE have also produced a GL compatible
  38. library called VOGL (Very Ordinary GL). This library should be available at
  39. the same site that you obtained VOGLE.

  41. This software is public domain and may be used for any purpose commercial or
  42. otherwise. It is offered without any guarantee as to its suitability for any
  43. purpose or as to the sanity of its writers. We do ask that the source is
  44. passed on to anyone that requests a copy, and that people who get copies don't
  45. go round claiming they wrote it.

  47. Although VOGLE is public domain we will drink any quantity of Beer you send to
  48. us.
