********************************** The Master Servers tab
* Pick what type of game you want to get a Master Server listing for.
* If the Game you selected allows you to select the Game Version select
the version of the game you desire. This will request only that game
version from the master server. You can enter your own version in if
the one you want isn't listed, but you have to enter the protocol that
the game version uses. For example, Quake 3 version 1.32 uses protocol
68 so you would enter '68' into the game version box. If you enter
anything other than the protocol version the master server will not
recognize your request. You can get the version you want by finding
the IP address and Port to a server that is using that version and
adding it to Multi Browser. After you refresh the server hit the
'Details' button and look for the protocol. It is usually listed
'protocol = 68' or whatever the protocol for that server is. If you
are searching for Half Life servers select the master server you would
like to retrieve a server list from. There are three master servers put
together by region: Eastern, Central, and Western.
* The Gameype would be something like Capture the Flag (CTF), which in
Quake 3 is gametype 4. You can select a listed gametype or enter the
desired gametype.
* Mod Type is the modification of the game that you want to search for.
For example, Quake 3 has a default Mod Type of base3. This is the one
that comes with the game. Several other mods have been made for the
game like OSP, Threewave, Instagib, etc... Either pick a listed Mod
Type or enter your own.
* Pick the maximum amount of game server you want to have displayed. The
more you choose the longer it will take to list. If you have a slower
computer you may want to keep this number low. If you leave this empty
there will be no limit placed and all the server that respond from the
master server list will be displayed.
* After you have the servers listed either doubleclick on the server
to add it to your saved server list or select one of the buttons at
the bottom.
NOTE: If you have any doubt about what to enter into any of these
fields try refreshing a server for that game. The 'Details' for the
server will show you how each field is used for each game.
********************************** Master Server Type
* You can select to either use the game's master server or to get a web
hosted master server text file. Not all games will allow you to use the
games master server file because the oficial master server is not
available for public access.
* As expected, the Standard Master Server will query the official master
server for a server list (does not work on all games).
* The Web Hosted Text File will look on a web hosted location for the
specified file and download it to use as the master server list. This
list has to be formatted where each line only has a server ip:port. If
the file is not formatted this way Multi Browser will see it as invalid
and will not be able to use it.
* the Master Server settings button opens up a setup screen for the
Master Server files.
* Pick a game and set how old you will allow the master server file
to get before you want Multi Browser to download a new master server
list. Set this to 0 to tell Multi Browser to download a new list every
time you refresh the master server list. If you delete the entry the
default setting of 7 days will be used.
* The Web Hosted Text File Settings is where you enter and select a URL
for the master server file location. When entering the URL do not
include the http:// before the URL or Multi Browser will not find the
master server file when it tries to download the file. The file must
be hosted on a http:// location and on port 80. As long as the URL
starts with http:// and it does not end with a : (colon) followed by a
number (ex. :220) the location should work correctly.
* There are some default locations for the web hosted master server file
that Multi Browser will not allow you to delete. They are the file
locations begining with www.sodpit.com/master/. Do not worry about not
being able to delete them. If you do not enter a URL and try to use
the Web Hosted Tedt File for your master server listing these default
locations will be used.
