  3. The files in the pub/WISR/wisr7 directory on ftp site
  4. gandalf.umcs.maine.edu currently reflect the final proceedings, prior
  5. to the workshop on August 28-30, 1995 at the Andersen Consulting Center
  6. in St. Charles, Illinois.
  7.  
  8. 1. The majority of papers (33) are in LaTex form and are in the
  9. repository as Latex, DVI, Postscript, AND ascii (txt) files.  
  10.  
  11. Those papers that have Postscript diagrams have them included 
  12. as separate Postscript files in the /tex directory.  The diagrams 
  13. are also embedded in the Postscript files in the /ps directory, 
  14. but are NOT embedded in the DVI files in the /dvi directory.

  16. *** IMPORTANT ***
  17. If you don't already have epsf.sty and ieeetr.bst on your system,
  18. you may need to ftp them from the /textools directory (ieeetr.bst
  19. for those papers with bib files, and epsf.sty for those papers
  20. with embedded postscript diagrams).

  23. 2. 13 of the papers were written using Microsoft Word 5.1,
  24. appearing as binhexed Mac Word 5.1 format (.msw.hqx) and RTF format 
  25. (.rtf) files in the /word5 directory, and as ascii (.txt) files 
  26. in the /txt directory.  The .msw.hqx files 
  27. can only be processed by Mac Word 5.1, but the .rtf files can be 
  28. transferred in text mode and should be readable by both
  29. IBM and Mac versions of Word.

  32. *** UNFORTUNATELY ***
  33. I've had problems getting Mac postscript files to print on the 
  34. postscript printers on our SUN network.  Given that the files tend
  35. to be extremely large I surmise that a large amount of font 
  36. information is being packed into each file that is not
  37. understandable by the printer drivers.  I therefore haven't
  38. included postscript files for the Word generated papers.  If
  39. anyone would like to try their hand at generating usable
  40. postscript files for these papers, go for it...
