  1. WISR6 Information:

  3. The files in the pub/WISR/wisr6 directory on ftp site
  4. gandalf.umcs.maine.edu currently reflect the final proceedings, prior
  5. to the workshop on November 2-4, 1993 in Owego, NY.
  6.  
  7. 1. The majority of papers (68) are in LaTex form and are in the
  8. repository as Latex, DVI, Postscript, AND ascii files.  
  9.  
  10. *** DISCLAIMER ***
  11. The ascii files of the LaTex papers are dvitty dumps of the dvi files and
  12. are in most cases EXTREMELY ugly.
  13. ******************

  15. Those papers that have Postscript diagrams have them included 
  16. as separate Postscript files in the /tex directory.  The diagrams 
  17. are also embedded in the Postscript files in the /ps directory, 
  18. but are NOT embedded in the DVI files in the /dvi directory.

  20. *** IMPORTANT ***
  21. If you don't already have epsf.sty and ieeetr.bst on your system,
  22. you may need to ftp them from the /textools directory (ieeetr.bst
  23. for those papers with bib files, and epsf.sty for those papers
  24. with embedded postscript diagrams).

  27. 2. 11 of the papers were written using Microsoft Word 5.0,
  28. appearing as Mac Word 5.0 format (.msw) and RTF format (.rtf) files
  29. in the /word5 directory, and as ascii (.ascii) files in the /ascii
  30. directory.  The .msw files need to be transferred in binary mode and
  31. can only be processed by Mac Word, but the .rtf files can be 
  32. transferred in ascii mode and should be readable by both
  33. IBM and Mac versions of Word.

  35. 3. One paper was written using Framemaker and is available in
  36. MIF interchange format (.mif) in the /mif directory, Postscript in
  37. the /ps directory, and ascii in the /ascii directory.

  39. *** UNFORTUNATELY ***
  40. I've had problems getting Mac postscript files to print on the 
  41. postscript printers on our SUN network.  Given that the files tend
  42. to be extremely large I surmise that a large amount of font 
  43. information is being packed into each file that is not
  44. understandable by the printer drivers.  I therefore haven't
  45. included postscript files for the Word generated papers.  If
  46. anyone would like to try their hand at generating usable
  47. postscript files for these papers, go for it...
