  12. This is to announce a minor new release, 2.0, of Kermit for Tandem Nonstop
  13. systems.  It has been contributed by an anonymous corporate donor that
  14. commissioned the upgrade some years ago from CAIL Systems Ltd, a company
  15. that does contract Tandem programming:

  19. It is not clear exactly what the improvements are, since they are not
  20. documented anywhere, not even in the source code.  As before, there is no
  21. user-level documentation at all.

  25.   tandem.tal:  The original 1986 version, TAL source code.
  26.   tandem.src:  The new 2.0 version, TAL source code.
  27.   tandem.dif:  Context diffs between the two versions.

  34. In response to the many requests we receive for a high-performance,
  35. high-quality, fully functional Kermit implementation for Tandem, the
  36. best course would be for a Tandem programmer to port C-Kermit ("the
  37. world's most portable communications software") to the Tandem platform.
  38. This can be done "simply" by filling in some low-level system-dependent 
  39. i/o routines.
