Several shards of West European glass vessels dating from the 13th century have been found in L├╢d├╢se. The most exquisite of the finds is a very graceful stemmed wine glass from the 14th century. It has possibly been made in northern France, from where also earthenware vessels were exported to L├╢d├╢se. At the end of the 14th and in the 15th century, glass came to L├╢d├╢se from Bohemia and eastern Germany (including beakers with applied glass threads). However, compared to the situation in the coastal towns of the Baltic Sea area, glass vessels were rare at the tables of L├╢d├╢seΓÇÖs dwellers. Because the townΓÇÖs location was changed at an early stage, there are only few late medieval or 16th-century finds from old L├╢d├╢se, whilst they are abundant in new L├╢d├╢se (Gothenburg).
