DM1toDM2.EXE v1.0ß (Multi-Level Doom I to Doom II Converter) 17.Dec.1994
========================================================================
by David L. Davis
------
INTRO:
------
Now that DOOM II is out and you've finished that last level, where's a
vast universe of DOOM I PWADs to explore (after all DOOM I's got a year
lead), to tantalize your imagination, and generally enhance your enjoyment
of DOOM II.
With the use of this program you can convert these files in minutes into
DOOM II PWADs, and back again with the -R switch without any knowledge of
DOOM I and DOOM II differents. (DM1toDM2 <Filename.WAD>)
---------------
FILES INCLUDED:
---------------
DM1toDM2.EXE..........The Conversion program (Changes MAP, MUSIC, DEMO,
WALL Textures, and PATCH entrys...but not SPRITES
and FLOOR / CEILING entrys)
DM1toDM2.DAT..........The default file used for PWAD Conversions
DM1toDM2.DOC..........This simple documentation for DM1toDM2.EXE
DM1LABEL.WAD..........11 DOOM I Wall Texture Labels missing in DOOM II
(OPTIONAL, and can be used with the -L Switch)
NOTE: The Graphic Patches to these Labels still
exist in DOOM II.
FILE_ID.DIZ...........BBS Description file of this Program
--------------------------------------------
OTHER FILES CREATED WHEN USING DM1toDM2.EXE:
--------------------------------------------
<PWADNAME>.DM1........PWAD is Backed-up to this file, unless -N is used!
<PWADNAME>.RIB........Restore It Back (.RIB) File
<PWADNAME>.BAT........A Batch File to run DOOM II with this PWAD
(Only creates this file, if <PWADNAME>.BAT doesn't
exist, and should be used as a template...you may
have to edit it)
----------------------------
DOS COMMAND LINE PARAMETERS:
----------------------------
DM1toDM2.EXE Amok11t.WAD [/N] [/C:DM1toDM2.DAT] [/L] [/I] [/B] [/Q] [/R]
/C:<FN.DAT> Conversion Data File to use, instead DM1toDM2.DAT.
/N or -N Do not create a Backup of .WAD to a .DM1 File.
/L or -L IF DM1Label.WAD is to used, these Texture labels will remain
unchanged. (DOOM2 -FILE DM1Label.WAD <Your.WAD>
/I or -I Allows changes on IWADs (BEWARE), except DOOM I Shareware.
/B or -B Bypass changing Wall Textures and Graphic Patches.
/Q or -Q Quiet / Batch File Mode (Prints nothing to the screen)
/R or -R Restore Doom I PWad changes with the '.RIB' (Restore It Back)
file.
------------------------------
SPECIAL NOTE to PWAD CREATORS:
------------------------------
To get better conversion results with the MAP, MUSIC, and GRAPHIC
PWADs, I've forced Mapping of MAP and MUSIC Labels to the following:
E1M1 thru E1M9 to MAP01 thru MAP09
E2M1 thru E2M9 to MAP12 thru MAP20 (Note: RSKY2 starts in MAP12)
E3M1 thru E3M9 to MAP21 thru MAP29 (Note: RSKY3 starts in MAP21)
--------------------
ABOUT DOOM II DEMOS:
--------------------
If Mapping a level to the following MAPs, one should also create a DEMO
'.LMP' file to replace DOOM II's DEMO, else DOOM II will clash as soon as
the DEMO starts!
(Note: A Demo uses the Map for the graphic, and store only movements in
itself.)
1) DEMO1 uses MAP11
2) DEMO2 uses MAP05
3) DEMO3 uses MAP26

guarantees ...after all its FREE, want do you want for nothing!!
