  9. Your brain is being invaded!  Nanobots (tiny robots created with
  10. nanotechnology) have been surgically implanted into your cerebral cortex
  11. to reverse the negative effects of television on your central nervous
  12. system.  After repairing the damage, the Nanobots were supposed to be
  13. destroyed by your immune system, but something went wrong.  While repairing
  14. the brain, the Nanobots began to grow smarter and decided they wanted to 
  15. live -- at your brain's expense.  Now they are feeding on your brain's grey
  16. matter and growing smarter still.  You must find a way to destroy these
  17. invaders before you lose your mind.

  57. HOW TO INSTALL BRAINWAVE ONTO YOUR HARD DRIVE
  58. ---------------------------------------------
  59. To install BrainWave onto your hard drive, run Microsoft Windows, and
  60. select "File" then "Run..." from the main menu in the Program Manager.  
  61. If you are running Windows 95, select the "Run..." command from the Start 
  62. menu instead.  Enter the full path, and run the program SETUP.EXE.  For 
  63. example, if you are installing from a disk in drive A:, type A:SETUP and
  64. then click the mouse on the OK button or press RETURN.

  66. Follow the on-screen installation instructions to proceed.  You will be
  67. asked to enter the path to the directory on your hard drive where you wish
  68. to install the game files, or to accept the default choice.  The installation
  69. program will copy the files to your hard drive and create a Program
  70. Manager group which will contain the game.  To play BrainWave, simply open
  71. the program group, and double click the mouse on the icon of the game.

  87. The registration price for BrainWave is only $19.95.  We pay shipping and
  88. handling.  There are many ways to register:

  91.     The fastest and easiest way to register is to point your web browser to
  92.     http://www.dexterity.com and fill out our on-line order form.  We

  95. 2.  REGISTER BY EMAIL (Credit Cards Only)
  96.     Fill out the file ORDER.FRM found in your BRAINWAV directory, and email
  97.     it to orders@dexterity.com.

  100.     Fill out the file ORDER.FRM found in your BRAINWAV directory, and fax

  104.     To register BrainWave by mail, simply print out the registration form
  105.     and mail it with your payment.  You can either print out the file
  106.     ORDER.FRM found in your BRAINWAV directory, or you can print the order
  107.     form from within the game by selecting "Game | Print Order Form" from 
  108.     the main menu.

  110. 5.  REGISTER ON COMPUSERVE
  111.     If you have access to CompuServe, GO SWREG to enter the shareware
  112.     registration database, and register PRODUCT ID 8182.  CompuServe will
  113.     bill your account directly and notify us to ship the game out to you
  114.     right away.

  117. A NOTE ON SPEED
  118. ---------------
  119. If BrainWave's graphics performance appears slow and choppy on your
  120. system, you can try the following to improve its speed:
  121.  
  122. - If you are running applications in the background that are
  123.   consuming CPU time, close them before playing BrainWave.  BrainWave
  124.   will perform best if it doesn't have to share CPU time with
  125.   other applications.  If you are running spreadsheet calculations
  126.   in the background, for instance, BrainWave's performance may
  127.   decline, depending on the speed of your system.

  129. - BrainWave performs best at 640x480 resolution in 256-color mode.
  130.   BrainWave will run in higher resolutions and at higher color modes,
  131.   but performance may suffer on slower machines.  Use the Windows
  132.   Setup program to verify that you are running Windows in 640x480
  133.   resolution with 256 colors.

  135. - Try disabling BrainWave's sound effects and/or music.  You can turn
  136.   these on or off through BrainWave's Options menu.  When the music or
  137.   sound effects are turned off, graphics performance will improve
  138.   slightly because BrainWave will automatically use the extra CPU
  139.   time to enhance drawing speed.

  156. DEFINITION OF SHAREWARE
  157. -----------------------
  158. Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software before buying 
  159. it.  If you try a Shareware program and continue using it, you are 
  160. expected to register.  Individual programs differ on details -- some 
  161. request registration while others require it, some specify a maximum 
  162. trial period.  With registration, you get anything from the simple right 
  163. to continue using the software to an updated program with printed manual.

  165. Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial software, and the 
  166. copyright holder retains all rights, with a few specific exceptions as 
  167. stated below. Shareware authors are accomplished programmers, just like 
  168. commercial authors, and the programs are of comparable quality.  (In both 
  169. cases, there are good programs and bad ones!)  The main difference is in 
  170. the method of distribution.  The author specifically grants the right to 
  171. copy and distribute the software, either to all and sundry or to a 
  172. specific group.  For example, some authors require written permission 
  173. before a commercial disk vendor may copy their Shareware.

  175. Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software.  You should 
  176. find software that suits your needs and pocketbook, whether it's 
  177. commercial or Shareware.  The Shareware system makes fitting your needs 
  178. easier, because you can try before you buy.  And because the overhead is 
  179. low, prices are low also.  Shareware has the ultimate money-back 
  180. guarantee -- if you don't use the product, you don't pay for it.
