  1. Welcome To Verona Beach,

  3. Included in this file are Installation Instructions,
  4. System Requirements, and Tips for increasing performance.

  8. Installation:
  9.  
  10.     WINDOWS 3.1:
  11.         1. Insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive.
  12.         2. Select RUN from the File menu of the Program Manager.
  13.         3. Type "D:\SETUP.EXE" and press Enter 
  14.                (If your CD-ROM drive is labeled differently, 
  15.                 substitute the appropriate letter)
  16.                (This copies the necessary files to your hard 
  17.                 drive and creates a Program Group)
  18.         4. Go to the Program Manager and double-click the 
  19.             "Fox Interactive" Program Group icon.
  20.         5. Double-click on the "Romeo & Juliet" icon to begin.
  21.     
  22.     WINDOWS 95:
  23.         1. Insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive.
  24.             2. Select RUN from the Start menu.
  25.             3. Type "D:\SETUP.EXE" and press Enter 
  26.                (If your CD-ROM drive is labeled differently, 
  27.                 substitute the appropriate letter)
  28.                (This copies the necessary files to your hard 
  29.                 drive and creates a Program Group)
  30.             4. On the Desktop, click the "Start" button. 
  31.             5. In the pop-up menu highlight "Programs".
  32.             6. In the pop-up menu highlight "Fox Interactive".
  33.             7. In the pop-up menu click "Romeo & Juliet" to begin.

  35.     MACINTOSH:
  36.         1. Insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive.
  37.         2. Copy the "Romeo & Juliet" folder to your hard drive.
  38.         3. Double-click on the "Romeo & Juliet" folder.
  39.         4. Double-click on the "Romeo & Juliet CD-ROM" icon 
  40.             (inside Romeo & Juliet folder) to begin.

  44. System Requirements:

  46.     Minimum platform requirements for PCs:
  47.         - 486/66 processor; Pentium recommended
  48.         - Windows 3.1 or higher
  49.         - 8MB of installed RAM (5MB of free RAM)
  50.         - Multi-session capable double-speed CD-ROM drive; 
  51.             quad-speed recommended
  52.         - Multi-session CD-ROM drivers
  53.         - Hard drive with at least 20MB free
  54.         - 640x480 display in 256 colors (8-bit color)
  55.         - 16-bit Windows compatible sound card
  56.         - Mouse
  57.     
  58.     Minimum platform requirements for Macintosh:
  59.         - 68040/33 processor; PowerMac 601/60 processor recommended
  60.         - System 7.1 or higher
  61.         - 8MB of installed RAM (5MB of free RAM)
  62.         - Multi-session capable double-speed CD-ROM drive; 
  63.             quad-speed recommended
  64.         - Apple CD-ROM Drivers version 5.1 or higher
  65.         - Hard drive with at least 20MB free
  66.         - 640x480 display in 256 colors (8-bit color)

  70. Performance Tips:

  72.     GENERAL TIPS
  73.         1. Be sure the Romeo & Juliet CD-ROM is in your CD-ROM Drive 
  74.             before running the program.
  75.         
  76.         2. Exit all other applications before running the program.

  79.     MACINTOSH MACHINES
  80.         1. You must copy the entire contents of the 
  81.             "Romeo & Juliet" folder to your hard drive.
  82.         
  83.         2. For better Performance do not use Virtual Memory 
  84.             when running the program.
  85.         
  86.         3. For systems with more RAM, increase the memory 
  87.             allocation for the program. 
  88.             a. Highlight the program Icon
  89.             b. Select Get Info from the File menu
  90.             c. Enter a new amount in the Preferred size field.
  91.

  93.     WINDOWS MACHINES
  94.         1. Your monitor should be set to 256 colors to run 
  95.             this program.
  96.         
  97.         2. To remove the program from your hard drive use the 
  98.             Un-Install function included in the SETUP.EXE 
  99.             program on the CD.
  100.             a. Insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive.
  101.             b. Select RUN from the Start menu.
  102.             c. Type "D:\SETUP.EXE" and press Enter.
  103.                    (If your CD-ROM drive is labeled differently, 
  104.                 substitute the appropriate letter)
  105.             d. Click on the Un-Install button.
  106.             
  107.         3. If you are on a Windows machine and your video card 
  108.             is not displaying the images properly, try the
  109.             following:
  110.             a. Open the R&J.INI file found in the directory 
  111.                 with R&J.EXE.
  112.             b. Find the "[Palette]" entry.
  113.             c. Remove the semi-colon (;) from the first line
  114.                 of the entry.
  115.             d. Be sure the line reads Animation=0.
  116.             
  117.             When you have completed the preceeding the entry
  118.                 should appear as follows:
  119.             
  120.             [Palette]
  121.             Animation=0
  122.             ; 1: allows director to take control of the palette 
  123.             ;    for fast palette effects and transitions.
  124.             ; 0: prevents director from taking control of the
  125.             ;    palette so other apps, wallpaper etc. look
  126.             ;    better but palette effects and transitions
  127.             ;    will be slower.
  128.             
  129.         4. If you are running Windows 3.1 be sure your Swap File
  130.             is set as permanent and the size is 20 megs.
  131.             a. Double-click on Control Panels inside the
  132.                 Main program group.
  133.             b. Double-click on 386 Enhanced.
  134.             c. Click Virtual Memory button.
  135.             
  136.             At this point you should see the Swap File settings.
  137.             If the size is not 19656 kb or larger, or if the
  138.             "Type" is not "Permanent" then do the following.

  140.             d. Click Change.
  141.             e. Click on the pulldown menu next to "Type" and
  142.                 select "Permanent".
  143.             f. Enter 19656 kb in size field.
  144.             g. Click OK.
  145.             h. Click Yes to accept changes.
  146.             i. Click OK to close 386 Enhanced Control Panel.
  147.             k. Exit Windows and restart your machine.
