{2}Here are some brief instructions on how to install the Atlas program.
{2}Even though the program is already installed, they are provided here
{2}for your reference.
{3}Hardware requirements:
{4}- at least 30 Mb of hard disk space. Depending on which install option you
choose, it may take more hard disk space. The more that you install from
CD-ROM to your hard disk, the faster to program will run.
- a CD-ROM drive (4x or faster recommended)
- a video card capable of more than 256 colors (not necessarily
24-bit or 32-bit, because 15-bit and 16-bit also work fine). We recommend
a resolution of 800x600 mode, although the program supports other resolutions.
- Windows 95
- A mouse, trackball, or other pointing device
- minimum 8 Mb of RAM (pentium with 16 MB recommended)
{3}Installation:
1. Turn your display to small fonts, higher than 256-color (i.e.: 15-bit, 16-bit,
24-bit, or 32-bit color). Preferably your resolution should also be 800x600
pixels. Also make sure that your hard drive that contains the Windows 95 swap
file (usually drive C:) has a reasonable amount of space on it (20 or 30 Mb
free). If possible, use 16-bit mode rather than 24 or 32-bit mode for your
video settings because it takes less memory and the program will run faster.
2. Insert the CD-ROM into the drive, and run SETUP.EXE. You can use the Windows 95
explorer or the 'run' command on the start menu. Follow the instructions in the
install program. There are 3 options in the install program, 'minimum', 'typical',
and 'custom'. The more data that you allow the install program to copy onto
your hard drive, the faster the program will run.
3. The install program will make a folder, and add an item to the start menu
under the heading 'Axion 3D World Atlas', unless you chose a different name.
