WELCOME TO THE GAME SERVICE
Please read the text below for more
information.
First Menu (current screen)
----------
On this screen you choose a server and a
handle.
- Ubi Soft servers
Gives a listing of available servers.
Select the server that is geographically
nearest you.
- New User
Press this button when you want to play via
the Game Service for the first time.
The following information must be provided
so that the account can be created.
Name (mandatory): Enter your handle here.
Your Handle is limited to 8 characters and
must begin with an alphanumeric character
(a-z or 0-9). If someone else is already in
the GameService using that exact handle,
it will tell you, "Your name is already used"
Password (mandatory): You must associate
a password with your name so that you will
be the only one to use your user's name.
The password is limited to 8 characters.
Country (optional): Enter here the country
where you come from.
E-mail (optional) : Enter your internet
address here.
Visiting card (optional) : Enter whatever
you want here.
POD version (automatic): Displays the
installed version of POD.
Additional tracks (automatic): Displays the
name of the additional tracks installed.
Reverse mode (automatic): Informs the
player whether the reverse mode is active
or not.
- Back Button
This button returns you to the multiplayer
mode selection menu.
- Dialog Box
This portion of the screen will tell you
information about what is happening or what
to do.
- Connect Button
Once you have chosen a server and a Handle
(name) click on this button to proceed to
the next screen. Sometimes (depending on
your internet connection) it may take a few
seconds to connect after you have hit this
button.
Second Menu
-----------
On this menu you are able to see your ping
time and select an arena.
- Server Messages
This area will contain any information you
might need to know concerning the worldwide
competition .
- Selection list
Arena : This portion of the screen shows
you which arenas are available to choose from.
The geographical names represent the actual
locations of the servers, so you are more
likely to have a better connection in a
room that is closer to you.
Ping limit: This indicates the maximum ping
you can have and still enter the room. If
your ping is a high number (over 500)
sometimes you will not see all of the rooms.
People : This number indicates how many
people are currently in each arena.
-Your ID
Pressing this button allows you to modify
some information such as your visiting
card or email address.
- Back
This button will take you to the previous
screen.
- Dialog box
This small box will display your current
average ping and your connection class.
The lower your ping time, the better
connection to the server you will usually
have.
- Connect
Once you have selected an arena (use the
mouse or keyboard and highlight one of the
arena names) you can enter that arena by
pressing the connect button.
Third Menu
-----------
This screen is the arena. In the arena
you can chat with others and set up races.
- Player list
This area gives information about who is
in the channel and what they are currently
doing.
Name : Names appearing in green show players
who are currently not involved in a race. By
clicking on someone's name and the player
button, you can find out where they are from
and what addon tracks they currently have.
The (M) beside the player's name means that
they are currently Master of a session.
Score : This number shows the total points
that the player currently has.
The way the points are allocated is based
on the E.L.O. chess system. In other words,
you earn more points by beating a player
who has a good ranking.
Session : The name in this column shows
which (if any) session the player is
currently joined to. The number to the right
of the session name shows (how many players
are currently in that session/max number of
players allowed in the session) If the
session name turns orange, it means the
session is full. If [brackets] appear around
the session name, this means that the
session has been launched and the players
involved are no longer active in the
chatroom.
Chat box : Click on this area and a cursor
will appear. You may then type your
message and hit enter to send it.
Global chat window : This is where chat
text appears when people type in the
public chat.
Private chat window : This is where private
chat messages and server messages
(indicating which session has been started,
etc) will appear. To use private chat, click
he button that says private. A gray
checkbox will appear beside the names of
all the players. Click on the box of the
person(s) you wish to send private
messages to, and the gray box will be filled
in with solid white. You may then p-chat.
- Server/information window : This window
displays different information
depending on which of the three orange
buttons on the right are selected.
Player : This will give you information
about the currently selected player.
Session : If you have a session or a player
with a session selected, you will see
information about the name of the session,
the list of players involved, and which
racetrack(s) are selected in that session.
Server : This will give you instructions
or information about who finished in which
place in recently completed sessions.
Start : If you are the master of a session,
you can use this button to launch the
session and begin the race.
Quit : Use this button to return to the
previous screen.
