- Legal Stuff:
- I am not liable for any damage, either physical or mental, this program
- causes to you or your pet(s). In other words, I am not responsible for your
- silliness (or mine! Hah!).
- Blah.. blah.. blah..
- This program can be included in PD disk libraries/BBSes as long as the
- archive remains intact, INCLUDING the source. I hate it when I get archives
- where it says in the documentation 'in the source/ directory' and some meathead
- along the way removed the source. In other words, if you don't have the original
- archive, then don't pass it on.
- This program, like my other little program I've released, is Sourceware.
- That means, if you like it and use it, send me some source in E. Or if you're
- not an E programmer, send me one of these: Brand new *nix port RPG (I'm a
- collector) , Brand new tactical/strategy game, good modules/samples, or finally,
- your own software package registered and I'll return the favor. Of course,
- anyone with 3.x Includes & Autodocs could send me those instead.
- Oh yes, I forgot, register this software and go to the afterlife of your
- choice free of charge!

- Okay, the program itself:
-
- Features:
- -Can rip samples out of Med MMD0 or MMD1 modules and the Protracker/
- Soundtracker/Noisetracker format.
- -Gets rid of annoying ST-xx: things.
- -Deals properly with unnamed samples.
- -Can multiple select module files with the ASL requester and dump all
- resultant samples to a directory for listening/renaming.
- -Actually works!
- -Other goodies.. Look for yourself.
-
- Supported module types:
-
- At this time I can only support three module types: MMD0, MMD1 and good
- ole PT/ST/NT. And I'll tell ya, after reverse engineering the formats of all
- three, I really am not impressed with the PT format.
- The old MED 2.1, 3.1, 3.2 whatever format is not supported for the simple
- reason that it is a demented, incredibly hard to use format and I refuse to
- even try. Now if somebody were to send me money to try, well....
- The MMD0 and MMD1 formats are reasonably bomb proof now, as they are the
- reason I wrote the program. At the moment I only have Octamed 2.0, and so I
- cannot load MMD1's to rip the samples out of them, so I wrote a program to do
- it for me. Just for fun I added support for PT and MMD0 as well.
-
- To do list:
- I've had a request from the guy who registers all my software, (Hi Rob!), to
- add a way to play the samples, and to save them as 8svx. This will require a
- GUI, so the next release may well have one. The next non bug-fix release that
- is.
- Also, more module formats I guess. I personally don't have any use for
- others, but maybe someone does. If you do, drop me a line and tell me what
- it is you want. If you've got modules from this format, send them too so I can
- try and figure it out.
-
- Known Bugs and suspected bugs:
- I suspect that the MMD1 multi module thing might screw up the sample
- ripper. I'm not sure. Maybe not.
- Med seems to mangle 8svx samples when it saves them in it's modules, cause
- the samples I rip are no longer 8svx and examination by me shows that they
- aren't when they are saved. The only thing I can maybe do to fix this is to
- take a look at the format, and try and see how it's mangling it and restore it
- to a proper FORM. Somebody know? Tell me!
- The multiple select feature will not work with one of those silly 'Patch
- ASL to use some REALLY ugly requester' type patches. This is a bug in those
- patches, not in my program. But don't blame them, I don't think it's easily
- fixable.
- For some reason, (who knows what?), when you click on the cancel or close
- gadget on my friends 4000/040, you get a recoverable alert. This does not
- happen on my 1200, and the source code seems fine. Who knows.
-
- If any other bugs pop up, feel free to send them to me for correction,
- including as much of the error report and/or enforcer hits as possible.
