  1.    Welcome to Amiga Voice Recognition and AniMan.

  3.    This is version 4.1 of AniMan which allows you to converse with an
  4. animated talking head through your audio digitizer in order to execute
  5. CLI commands, ARexx commands, or ARexx scripts by voice command.  AniMan
  6. is completely multitasking and will run in the background, continuously
  7. listening for your voice command.  With AniMan you can launch multiple
  8. applications or control any program with an ARexx capability by conversation
  9. with an animated talking head.  Improvements over earler versions include
  10. background multitasking operation, the capability to load alternate command
  11. files by spoken voice command, a choice of Amiga hardware timers to reduce
  12. interference with other programs, and support for three audio digitizers;
  13. Perfect Sound 3, Sound Master (Sound Magic), and Generic digitizers.
  14. AniMan is compatible with NTSC and PAL.  Copy voice.library (version 6.4)
  15. to libs: before running AniMan.  Note that is is VERY IMPORTANT that if
  16. you have been using earlier versions of voice.library, that you REBOOT
  17. YOUR AMIGA after installing voice.library version 6.4.  Otherwise, the
  18. older version of voice.library will remain in memory, and VCLI52 will not
  19. work correctly.

  21.    Note for GVP DSS 8 users.  You can use DSS 8 with AniMan in the Generic
  22. digitizer mode.  However, since GVP does not release technical information
  23. regarding the DSS 8, I have not been able to provide software gain
  24. adjustment.  The process to use is as follows.  First connect your DSS 8
  25. digitizer and run the "DSS" program supplied by GVP with your digitizer.
  26. Open the Sampler Control Panel and select Input parameters to be used
  27. (I suggest left channel, sampler gain 8, and microphone input with filter).
  28. Then select "Monitor" to activate the DSS 8 digitizer with the input
  29. parameters you have selected.

  31.    Without disturbing the digitizer, exit the "DSS" program and run AniMan.
  32. As long as you do not choose another digitizer, or load a vocabulary file
  33. that was recorded using another digitizer, AniMan will operate correctly
  34. with the DSS 8 digitzer.  Note that if you have used another digitizer
  35. previously, you may have to delete "CommandFile.name" file before running
  36. AniMan, since the presence of this file causes AniMan to automatically load
  37. the last vocabulary file you have recorded.
