  1. Race Track v1.0 (RACETRK.EXE) is a Windows shareware version
  2. of the classic Swiss racing simulation game.   Not an arcade 
  3. game, but just as exciting -- it requires thinking rather than
  4. reflexes.  A good example of a game based on simple rules
  5. that models the real world with amazing accuracy.  Design
  6. and build your own tracks and share them with a friend.
  7. Race against a friend or the 'ghost' of the track champion.
  8. Challenging but fun, easy to learn and play, great
  9. graphics, sound effects, and MIDI background music!
  10.  
  11. RACETRK.ZIP should yield the following program files when un-zipped:

  13.     RACETRK.EXE  --  The Race Track executable
  14.     RACETRK.HLP  --  The Race Track Help File
  15.     README.TXT   --  This 'read-me' file
  16.         RACETRK.MID  --  The racing background MIDI music
  17.     RTWIN.MID    --  The winners 'fanfare' MIDI music
  18.         RTCRASH.WAV  --  The crash sound WAV file
  19.     RTSIREN.WAV  --  The WAV file of an ambulance siren
  20.  
  21. + three example tracks:

  23.         RTGARD.TRK   --  Martin Gardners's original race track
  24.         RTMAZE.TRK   --  a maze-like track
  25.     RTTOUGH.TRK  --  a challenging race track
  26.  
  27. Race Track is written in Visual Basic 3.0.   As such it
  28. requires that VBRUN300.DLL exists in your Windows System directory.    
  29.  
  30. I have a 'slick' install program that takes care of everything having
  31. to do with installation, but for file exchanges across BBSs 
  32. it takes up too much room -- adding almost 300K to the files.  
  33. So . . . to install Race Track, please do the following:
  34.  
  35. 1. Check that VBRUN300.DLL is in your Windows System directory.  If not,
  36.    please download a copy ( there should be a copy on the BBS from which
  37.    you downloaded RACETRK.ZIP)
  38.  
  39. 2. Create a directory RACETRK
  40.  
  41. 3. Copy all the files 'unzipped' from RACETRK.ZIP 
  42.    to this new RACETRK directory.
  43.  
  44. 4. Create a program manager icon for RACETRK.EXE by adding it as a file
  45.    in your GAMES program manager group.
  46.  
  47. That's it.
