  23.         Icon Editor 2.0 allows you to view and edit icons 
  24.      in the ICO format.  It supports transparent as well as
  25.      solid icons.  Icon Editor 2.0 requires
  26.      
  27.                 - An EGA or VGA monitor
  28.                 - A mouse (3-button recommended)
  29.                 - DOS 2.1 or higher
  30.                 - An AT or faster
  31.                 - *Windows 3.0
  32.                 
  33.         * Icon Editor 2.0 does not require Windows 3.0 to run
  34.           but it helps if you would like to use your icons
  35.           
  36.         Icon Editor 2.0 is shareware.  If you if like Icon 
  37.      Editor and use it often you should register your copy at 
  38.      only $10.

  47.         Using . . .
  48.                           
  49.         Icon Editor 2.0's main layout consists of the menu options
  50.      located at the top of the screen (Clear, Save, etc...) and 
  51.      the icon editing grid (center of screen).  Your color choices
  52.      as well as the current drawing color and icon image are located
  53.      to the right of the editing grid.  The name of the current 
  54.      working icon is just beneath the icon image.
  55.      
  56.         To use a menu option just click on it.  This will usually bring
  57.      up a menu:
  58.      
  59.         IE - This menu gives you the option of refreshing the screen
  60.         and/or turning the grid cursor on or off.
  61.              
  62.         CLEAR - This is when you would like to clear the screen.  You
  63.         can clear the screen with the current color or nothing.
  64.         
  65.         SAVE - You can save your icon to the current name or give a new
  66.         one.
  67.         
  68.         LOAD - This gives you a list of available ICO files you - just
  69.         double click on the file you wish to load.  You can give a new
  70.         path by clicking on the path or on the option {New Path}
  71.         (When giving a new path specify the whole path - example:
  72.          C:\WINDOWS\*.ICO  )
  73.          
  74.         Drawing Style - This is the last option and can be changed by
  75.         clicking on it or pressing the middle button on your mouse.
  76.         It can change to one of the following -
  77.                 
  78.                 - Normal:  You can draw freely with the mouse
  79.                 - Box [E]:  You can draw an empty box or a line
  80.                 - Box [F]:  You can draw a filled box
  81.

  83.          When on the grid you are able to edit the icon by pressing
  84.          the left button and dragging the cursor.  This will draw a
  85.          box or a pixel (depending on the drawing style) in the 
  86.          current color.  You can erase a pixel or square by using the
  87.          right button.

  91.         Using Your Icons With Windows . . .        
  92.         
  93.         To install your new icon in windows you must first run 
  94.      the windows program then follow these steps:
  95.         
  96.                 1) Select the icon you want to change in the Program Manager
  97.                 2) Select PROPERTIES in the FILE menu
  98.                 3) Choose to CHANGE ICON
  99.                 4) When the SELECT ICON box opens, click on FILE NAME
  100.                 5) Enter the name of your icon (with the ICO extension)
  101.                 6) Choose OK to return to the PROGRAM ITEM PROPERTIES
  102.                 7) Choose OK again to install the icon

  107.         This is just a list of things that have been changed for Icon
  108.         Editor 2.0

  110.                 - a new menu system is being used including visual 
  111.                   directories of files

  113.                 - different drawing styles are allowed and are selectable
  114.                   from the options area

  116.                 - support for different paths and drives other than the 
  117.                   one Icon Editor is using

  119.                 - better handling of boxes
  120.                 
  121.                 - the bugs with non transparent icons and filled boxes
  122.                   have been fixed

  124.                 - better layout giving more room to the grid
