  16. 1. General Notes
  17. ----------------
  18.   It is IMPORTANT that you read this README file and all the
  19.   supplied documentation BEFORE you continue the installation!
  20.   Otherwise the company cannot accept any responsibility for claims
  21.   that result as a consequence.

  24. If you don't need to use INCONTROL TOOLS/Multi Monitor features, please 
  25. use the installation notes in step 3.

  29. 2. Installation using INCONTROL TOOLS/Multi Monitor features
  30. ------------------------------------------------------------
  31.   The program calls stated below refer to the installation from the
  32.   installation diskette.
  33.  
  34.   Insert the Viper 330 Multi-Monitor Diskette into drive A:.  Select the
  35.   menu item 'Run' from the Start Menu.  Then enter:
  36.

  40. 2.1  Choosing a Monitor
  41. -----------------------
  42.   Please be aware that you can only take full advantage of the features
  43.   provided by the Viper 330 Multi-Monitor driver if the other components
  44.   of your system, especially the graphic monitor that is being used, also
  45.   comply with the specifications of the Viper 330. 
  46.   (Example : The resolution 1280x1024 that is supported by the Viper 330
  47.   can obviously not be used with a monitor that is
  48.   specified to only support resolutions up to 1024x768).

  50.   To set the display resolution and refresh rate for Windows NT 4, use
  51.   Display Properties Settings.

  53.             *** IMPORTANT ***

  55.   Only use settings that your monitor supports. If you use the monitor
  56.   outside the specified ratings then it may suffer permanent damage!
  57.   If you change the monitor then you must compare the ratings first
  58.   and should reconfigure accordingly!

  61. 2.2 Known Restrictions
  62. ---------------------
  63.    The Viper 330 Multi-Monitor driver only works with the Windows NT 4
  64.    operating system.

  68. 3.Installation Notes NOT using INCONTROL TOOLS/Multi monitor features
  69. -----------------------------------------------------------------
  70. You must have Windows NT 4.0 installed with the Standard VGA driver (640x480x16)
  71. before you install the Diamond Viper V330 Series NT 4.0 drivers.  If you
  72. are running a different graphics mode please re-configure for Standard VGA.

  75. Installation Instructions
  76. -------------------------
  77. 3.1  Once you have confirmed that you are running in Standard VGA, place the 
  78.     Diamond Viper V330 Series Windows NT 4.0 diskette into your
  79.     diskette drive.

  81. 3.2  Select the menu item 'Run' from the Start Menu.  Then enter:
  82.     A:\INSTALL 
  83.  
  84.     (Where A: is the drive letter of your diskette drive).  Follow the
  85.     instructions to install the NT 4.0 drivers and at the end you will be
  86.     prompted to reboot your system.
  87.    
  88. Note that the default resolution that installed is 640x480x8 60Hz.
  89.  
  90. 4. Known Issues
  91. ---------------
  92.    a. Diamond supports up to 4 PCI boards/monitors.
  93.  
  94.    b.  OpenGL Conformance Test: this test may show "Buffer Variance Tests" fail 
  95.       (e.g., CONFORM16.LOG in WHQL full regression). This kind of errror can 
  96.       show up where there are fairly steep changes in color or texture coordinates.
  97.       Visually it can't be detected, but can be tested for.
