  7. This is version 4.10.01.3306 of the Diamond Stealth 3D Series Windows 95
  8. Display Drivers with InControl Tools 95 version 4.03.160.

  11. I.  Windows 95 Installation Notes
  12. ---------------------------------
  13. These drivers require DirectX 5 to support DirectDraw and Direct3D applications.
  14.  
  15. A.  Installing Windows 95 after installing the Stealth 3D
  16. ---------------------------------------------------------
  17. Follow the instructions below when installing Microsoft Windows 95 (any OSR) if
  18. the Stealth 3D 4000 is installed. 
  19.  
  20. 1.  From the "Setup Options" window, choose Custom and click Next, enter user
  21.     information, click Next, then click Yes when asked whether Windows should
  22.     detect hardware, click Next again.
  23.  
  24. 2.  Setup will proceed.  When the "Computer Settings" window is displayed,
  25.     highlight Display, click Change, select "Show all devices".  
  26.  
  27. 3.  Under "Manufacturers" select "Standard Display Types", and choose
  28.    "Standard Display Adapter (VGA)", click OK, click Next.
  29.  
  30. 4.  Proceed with the Windows installation.

  33. B.  If Windows 95 is already installed
  34. --------------------------------------
  35.  
  36. 1. When you first install the video card in the system and power on, Windows 95
  37.    will inform you that it has discovered a new "Standard Display Adapter (VGA)" 
  38.    and will prompt you to install drivers for it.  At this point you
  39.    will want to select "Do not install a driver" and click "OK".
  40.  
  41. 2. Next select "Cancel" when the message box appears indicating that your
  42.    display adapter is not configured properly.  Select "Cancel" once again when
  43.    the "Display Properties" dialog comes up.
  44.  
  45. 3. Next right click on "My Computer" and select "Properties".  Then select the
  46.    "Device Manager" tab.
  47.  
  48. 4. Now within the "Device Manager" you will want to double-click "Display
  49.    Adapters" highlight the "PCI VGA-Compatible Display Adapter" and select
  50.    "Properties".
  51.  
  52. 5. Now select the "Driver" tab and click the "Change Driver..." button.
  53.  
  54. 6. Scroll through the "Hardware Type" list until you find "Display adapters".
  55.    Highlight this selection and click "OK".
  56.  
  57. 7. You should then be able to highlight "(Standard display types)" and select
  58.    "OK" to accept the "Standard Display Adapter(VGA)" option.
  59.  
  60. 8. Now click "OK" once again to install the "Standard Display Adapter(VGA)"
  61.    driver.
  62.  
  63. 9. When Windows 95 prompts you to restart the computer, click "Yes".
  64.  
  65. 10. Once Windows 95 restarts you will want to click the "Start" button, then
  66.     choose "Run...".
  67.  
  68. 11. Now insert the Diamond Stealth 3D Series Windows 95 Display Drivers into the
  69.     appropriate drive and within the "Run" dialog box type the following:
  70.     "x:\INSTALL" where x is the corresponding letter of the drive containing
  71.     the Diamond Stealth 3D Series Windows 95 Display Drivers.

  73.            The following command line switches can be used with INSTALL:
  74.  
  75.                 /f                      This forces a Full installation
  76.                                         (Diamond Stealth 3D Series Windows 95
  77.                                         Display Driver and InControl Tools 95).
  78.  
  79.                 /m                      This forces a Minimal installation
  80.                                         (Diamond Stealth 3D Series Windows 95
  81.                                         Display Driver only).
  82.  
  83.                 /d"drive:\path"         This installs InControl Tools 95 into
  84.                                         drive:\path. Note that the quotes, drive
  85.                                         letter and path are required.  In
  86.                                         addition, either the /f or /m switch
  87.                                         must be used in conjunction with this
  88.                                         selection.
  89.  
  90.                 /r                      This forces a system reboot after
  91.                                         installation.  Note that either the /f
  92.                                         or /m switch must be used in conjunction
  93.                                         with this selection.
  94.  
  95.                 /nr                     This prevents a system reboot after
  96.                                         installation.  Note that either the /f
  97.                                         or /m switch must be used in conjunction
  98.                                         with this selection.
  99.  
  100.                 /u                      This forces an Unattended installation.
  101.                                         This has all of the functionality of a
  102.                                         /f installation, but does not launch the
  103.                                         setup wizard after the system reboots.
  104.                                         
  105.                 uninstall               This will completely uninstall the
  106.                                         Diamond Stealth 3D Windows 95 Display
  107.                                         Driver and InControl Tools 95.
  108.  
  109. 12. Once the Diamond Setup Wizard dialog box appears you will be able to review
  110.     the Readme file or continue on with the installation by selecting "Next".
  111.  
  112. 13. The Setup Wizard will now check for Diamond components installed in your
  113.     computer.  Click "Next" to proceed.
  114.  
  115. 14. A dialog box will appear containing the path where InControl Tools 95 will
  116.     be installed.  The default path is:
  117.  
  118.         "C:\Program Files\Diamond"
  119.  
  120.     Select "Next" or change the path as necessary.
  121.  
  122. 15. The next dialog box selects the installation type.  There are three
  123.     installation types: Minimal, Full and Custom.  They are defined as follows:
  124.  
  125.                 Minimal:        This will install only the Diamond Stealth 3D
  126.                                 Series Display Driver.
  127.  
  128.                 Full:           This will install both the Diamond Stealth 3D
  129.                                 Series Display Driver and InControl Tools 95.
  130.  
  131.                 Custom:         This will allow installation of either the
  132.                                 Diamond Stealth 3D Series Display Driver or
  133.                                 InControl Tools 95.  At the minimum, the Diamond
  134.                                 Stealth 3D Series Display Driver must be
  135.                                 installed during a first-time installation.
  136.  
  137. 16. If "Custom" was selected in step 15, a dialog box will appear allowing the
  138.     selection of various items.  Select the items to be installed by clicking on
  139.     them with the left mouse button.  When finished, click "Next" to continue.
  140.  
  141. 17. At the "Select Files to be copied" dialog box, click "Next" to begin the
  142.     file copying process.
  143.  
  144. 18. After the files have been copied you will want to click "Finish" in order to
  145.     complete the installation.  Note: If applicable, please remove the floppy
  146.     diskette containing the Diamond Stealth 3D Series Display Drivers prior to
  147.     clicking "Finish".
  148.  
  149. 19. Windows 95 will ask that the computer be restarted.  Click on "Yes" to
  150.     restart the computer.
  151.  
  152. 20. Once Windows 95 restarts, you will have successfully installed the software
  153.     for your Diamond Stealth 3D Series.  The InControl Tools 95 Wizard will then
  154.     guide you the rest of the way.  Thank you for choosing Diamond!

  159. II.  Diamond Refresh Utility
  160. ----------------------------
  161.  
  162. The Diamond Refresh Utility allows you to select the refresh rate for your
  163. monitor which suits you best in addition to providing a display centering
  164. utility.  You may want to have your monitor's manual or specifications with you
  165. while using this utility.
  166.  
  167. A.  To access the Display Centering Utility:
  168. --------------------------------------------
  169.  
  170. 1. Click your right mouse button anywhere on the Windows background.  The
  171.    Windows desktop menu will appear.
  172.  
  173. 2. Next choose "Properties" in order to bring up the "Display Properties" dialog
  174.    box.
  175.  
  176. 3. Now select the "Refresh" tab.
  177.  
  178. 4. Move your mouse cursor to the screen area on the monitor graphic.  You will
  179.    notice that the mouse cursor changes to a hand.
  180.  
  181. 5. Press and hold your left mouse button and move the screen graphic up, down or
  182.    to either side.  Note that your screen is repositioned dynamically as you
  183.    move the mouse.
  184.  
  185. 6. Release your mouse button when your screen is centered.  Note: You can also
  186.    change the screen position dynamically by simultaneously pressing your <Alt>
  187.    key and either the left, right, up or down directional arrow keys.
  188.  
  189. 7. A confirmation message opens to let you verify the change.  Click "Yes" to
  190.    confirm the change or "No" to revert to the previous screen position.  If you
  191.    don't make a choice, the message box is dismissed after a few seconds and the
  192.    screen reverts to it's previous position.

  194. B.  To access the Monitor Refresh Utility: 
  195. ------------------------------------------
  196.  
  197. 1.  Click your right mouse button anywhere on the Windows background.  The
  198.     Windows desktop menu will appear.
  199.  
  200. 2.  Next choose "Properties" in order to bring up the "Display Properties"
  201.     dialog box.
  202.  
  203. 3.  Now select the "Refresh" tab.
  204.  
  205. 4.  In the lower portion of the dialog box, open the refresh dropdown list by
  206.     clicking on the downward-pointing arrow to the right of the list viewer.
  207.     The list contains all available refresh rates for the currently selected
  208.     monitor type, viewport size and color palette.  Note that some
  209.     configurations offer only one choice.
  210.  
  211. 5.  If more than one refresh rate is available, you are provided the ability to
  212.     select a new one.
  213.  
  214. 6.  If you select a new refresh rate, a confirmation message box opens.  If the
  215.     new refresh rate appears stable, you can click "Yes" to confirm the
  216.     selection.  If you click "No" or wait a few seconds, the previous refresh
  217.     rate is restored.

  233. The S3 Live Video software cannot be uninstalled through the Diamond Multimedia 
  234. Product Installation & Removal.  However, you can uninstall the software by
  235. running the SETUP.EXE located on disk 3 of the Windows 95 drivers set.
  236.  
  237. Transparent images in Galapogos do not display correctly (in hardware
  238. acceleration mode).
  239.  
  240. Enemy models in Jedi Knight randomly blank out (in hardware acceleration mode).
