  48. SOFTWARE APPLICATION NOTES

  50. Large Paper Sizes
  51.  
  52. If your application has a Page Setup, or similarly named menu
  53. item, you should always take care when it is used to set a large
  54. paper size. ZoomSmart scaling settings in the Paper Sizes
  55. properties page may be active. If so, the scaling effect could
  56. generate an error message telling you that the scaled paper size
  57. is too large for your printer and that scaling will be disabled.
  58. However, in some extreme cases this error message will be repeated
  59. several times. After the final error message your drawing will be
  60. printed according to the Page Setup settings and with the Scaling
  61. setting disabled.

  63. Internet Links from the Driver's Help File

  65. The driver's help file contains some useful links for users with
  66. access to the Internet. You can normally link from the help file
  67. to these Internet pages. However, even if you cannot link
  68. automatically to these pages, they can still provide you with
  69. useful information.

  77. Timeout for Complex Print Jobs
  78.  
  79. Complex print jobs may experience timeout problems. Under such
  80. circumstances, only a portion of the drawing will be properly
  81. printed, and the device will request more media. To solve the
  82. problem, increase the IN JOB TIMEOUT setting available through the
  83. printer's front panel IO MENU.
  84.  
  85. For really complex drawings you may also need to change the
  86. printer spool settings. Proceed as follows:
  87.  
  88. Start -> Settings -> Printers -> 
  89. Properties -> Details -> Spool Settings ->
  90. Check "Start printing after last page is spooled"
  91.

  93. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
  94.  
  95. IMPORTANT: No other applications should be running when you
  96. install this driver.
  97.  
  98. We recommend restarting your computer before installing a driver.
  99. Your operating system should be running, but no other
  100. applications.
  101.  
  102. Standard Installation
  103.  
  104. Insert the CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive and follow the
  105. instructions that appear on your screen.
  106.  
  107. If no instructions appear on your screen, run the setup.exe
  108. program on the CD-ROM.
  109.  
  110. Manual Installation
  111.  
  112. If you cannot or prefer not to use the standard installation
  113. process, you can install the driver from the CD-ROM by following
  114. these steps:
  115.  
  116. 1. If the output you send to the printer will go directly to the
  117. printer by network without being stored on another computer, you
  118. must create a network port before installing the driver (consult
  119. your network documentation or network administrator).
  120.  
  121. 2. Click Start, Settings, and then Printers to open the Printers
  122. dialog box.
  123.  
  124. 3. Double-click the Add Printer icon to open the Add Printer
  125. Wizard dialog box. (We recommend that you do not use the New
  126. Driver button in the Printer Properties dialog box to install or
  127. upgrade this driver.)
  128.  
  129. 4. Follow the steps displayed on your screen. Below are some
  130. questions that you may be requested to answer, depending on your
  131. system configuration.
  132.  
  133. "How is this printer attached to your computer?"
  134.  
  135. Select:
  136.  
  137. * "Local printer" if the output you send to the printer will go
  138. directly to the printer by cable or network without being stored
  139. on another computer.
  140.  
  141. * "Network printer" if you will send output to the printer via
  142. another computer. In this case, all settings for the printer are
  143. managed by a printer server that has been set up by an
  144. administrator.
  145.  
  146. Click Have Disk...
  147.  
  148. In the Install From Disk dialog box, enter the location of the
  149. driver on the CD-ROM (the same folder as this ReadMe file) and
  150. click OK. Select your HP Designjet printer from the list and click
  151. Next.
  152.  
  153. "Would you like to keep the existing driver or use the new one?"
  154.  
  155. Select "Replace existing driver".
  156.  
  157. If you are installing files for a new version and you see this
  158. question, we recommend replacing the existing driver.
  159.  
  160. "Do you print from MS-DOS-based programs?"
  161.  
  162. We recommend that you select No. Select Yes only in the case where
  163. you have an MS-DOS driver that can print to a HP Designjet series
  164. printer.
