  44. TO UPGRADE HP JETDIRECT PRINT SERVERS OVER IP PROTOCOL IN A MICROSOFT
  45. WINDOWS ENVIRONMENT:

  47.      *  You must have the set-community-name configured on each print
  48.         server that is to be upgraded.  Check the TCP/IP section of each
  49.         self test page.  If the set-community-name is "SPECIFIED" you can
  50.         use IP to upgrade your JetDirect products.
  51.      *  386/20 MHz or better processor

  70. WORKSTATION:

  82. TO UPGRADE HP JETDIRECT PRINT SERVERS OVER IP PROTOCOL FROM A HP-UX 10.X

  91.   OBTAINING THE FILES REQUIRED FOR UPGRADING JETDIRECT FIRMWARE
  92.   To use the HP Download Manager in a Microsoft Windows environment, you
  93.   need to obtain the following files:
  94.  
  95.      1. dlmswin.exe (HP Download Manager)
  96.      2. Appropriate upgrade file (for instance, amswine.exe for an HP
  97.         J2552A card)
  98.      3. For IPX upgrades, HP JetAdmin for Novell software, NOVUT1.EXE and
  99.         NOVUT2.EXE (if you don't have version A.01.11 or greater) or HP
  100.         JetAdmin for Windows 95, JD95UP.EXE.
  101.  
  102.   To use the Download Manager with HP-UX 9.x, you need to obtain the
  103.   following files:
  104.  
  105.      1. dlhpux9.tar (HP Download Manager)
  106.      2. Appropriate upgrade file (for instance, ahpux9e.tar for an HP
  107.         J2552A card)
  108.      3. Optional - HP JetAdmin for HP-UX 9.x software, version D.00.37 or
  109.         greater.  For HP 9000 series 700 or 800, obtain the Update format
  110.         file HPNPFPKG.700.d0037. For HP 9000 series 300 and 400 systems
  111.         obtain the Update format file HPNPFPKG.300.d0037.

  113.   To use the Download Manager with HP-UX 10.x, you need to obtain the
  114.   following files:

  152. INSTALLING THE HP DOWNLOAD MANAGER AND UPGRADE FILES
  153.   
  154.   IN A MICROSOFT WINDOWS ENVIRONMENT:
  155.      1. Obtain the necessary files and place them in a temporary directory
  156.         on your PC.
  157.      2. For IPX upgrades only, extract HP JetAdmin for Novell NetWare by
  158.         running the self extracting archive files NOVUT1.EXE AND NOVUT2.EXE
  159.         in the temporary directory (you only need to do this if you do not
  160.         have a version of JetAdmin A.01.11 or greater.)
  161.      3. Install HP JetAdmin.
  162.      4. Extract the HPDL0205.EXE file. The necessary files will be
  163.         extracted to the \HPDLINST directory.
  164.      5. Run \HPDLINST\SETUP.EXE from Windows. This will install the HP
  165.         Download Manager in the directory of your choice and create a
  166.         Windows program group for the HP Download Manager.
  167.      6. Extract the firmware file (for example, A0406EN.EXE file). The
  168.         necessary files will be extracted to the current directory.  You
  169.         should extract these files in a different directory then was
  170.         created for the HPDL0205.EXE files since some of the file names are
  171.         the same.
  172.      7. Run the upgrade file, ..\SETUP.EXE, from Windows. This will install
  173.         the upgrade files in a subdirectory named ..\UPGRADES\JETDIREC
  174.         beneath the directory you specified when installing the HP Download
  175.         Manager. This is why the HP Download Manager needs to be installed
  176.         first.

  179.   IN A HP-UX 9.X ENVIRONMENT:
  180.      1. Log in as ROOT.
  181.      2. Obtain the necessary files and place them in a temporary directory
  182.         on your UNIX workstation.
  183.      3. If using HP JetAdmin for HP-UX 9.x software, you also need to
  184.         install these files.
  185.      4. Type tar xvf dlhpux9.tar (this will create the file hpdwnld.updt.Z
  186.         and a readme.txt file)
  187.      5. Type tar xvf <image>.tar (this will create the file <image>.updt.Z
  188.         and an <image>.txt file)
  189.      6. Type uncompress hpdwnld.updt.Z to decompress the Download Manager
  190.         files.
  191.      7. Type uncompress image.updt.Z (for example a0406en.updt.Z) to
  192.         decompress the image file.
  193.      8. Run /etc/update -s <full path to hpdwnld.updt file> "*"  (This will
  194.         put the Download Manager program files in /usr/lib/hpnp/bin/
  195.         directory).  The HP Download Manager needs to be installed before
  196.         the image is installed.
  197.      9. Run /etc/update -s <full path to image.updt file> "*"  (This will
  198.         put the image files in /usr/tftpdir/upgrades/jetdirec directory).
  199.   
  200.   IN A HP-UX 10.X ENVIRONMENT:
  201.      1. Log in as ROOT.
  202.      2. Obtain the necessary files and place them in a temporary directory
  203.         on your UNIX workstation.
  204.      3. If using HP JetAdmin for HP-UX 10.x software, you also need to
  205.         install these files.
  206.      4. Type tar xvf dlhpux10.tar (this will create the file
  207.         downloader.install.Z)
  208.      5. Type tar xvf <image>.tar (this will create the file
  209.         <image>.install.Z)
  210.      6. Type uncompress downloader.install.Z to decompress the Download
  211.         Manager files.
  212.      7. Type uncompress image.install.Z (for example a0406en.install.Z) to
  213.         decompress the image file.
  214.      8. Run the following command:  swinstall -x reinstall=true -s <full
  215.         path to downloader.install> HPDownloader  (This will put the
  216.         Download Manager program files in /opt/hpnp/bin/ directory).  The
  217.         HP Download Manager needs to be installed before the image is
  218.         installed.
  219.      9. Run the following command:  swinstall -x reinstall=true -s <full
  220.         path to image.updt file> imagefile (This will put the image files
  221.         in /home/tftpdir/upgrades/jetdirec directory).

  223. GETTING STARTED WITH THE HP DOWNLOAD MANAGER
  224.  
  225. Once you have installed the program files you are ready to use the HP
  226. Download Manager.
  227.   
  228.   TO INVOKE THE HP DOWNLOAD MANAGER FROM JETADMIN FOR NOVELL IN A MICROSOFT
  229.   WINDOWS* ENVIRONMENT:
  230.  
  231.      1. Run HP JetAdmin.
  232.      2. From the HP JetAdmin menu select File, then select JetDirect
  233.         Firmware Upgrade...
  234.      3. Choose ..\HPDWNLD.EXE from the dialog box.  Click on the "OK"
  235.         button.
  236.   
  237.   TO RUN THE DOWNLOAD MANAGER DIRECTLY FROM A MICROSOFT WINDOWS*
  238.   ENVIRONMENT:
  239.  
  240.      1. Open the HP Download Manager Program Group.
  241.      2. Start the HP Download Manager Configurator Application.
  242.      3. Set the appropriate configurator parameters using the online help
  243.         as needed.
  244.      4. Start the HP Download Manager Application and use the online help
  245.         for instructions on upgrading your print servers.
  246.           
  247.           Note*:    If you are running Microsoft Windows NT,
  248.                     Microsoft Windows for Workgroups, or Windows
  249.                     95 over TCP/IP and a Novell file server is
  250.                     not present, refer to these additional
  251.                     instructions before running the Download
  252.                     Manager:
  253.   
  254.   MICROSOFT WINDOWS NT
  255.      1. Look at the self test page under the Novell section to verify the
  256.         JetDirect print server does not have a network number for Novell.
  257.         If it does, then you can disregard the rest of these instructions.
  258.      2. Go into the Control Panel.
  259.      3. Double click on the Network icon. To get the Auto Discovery mode of
  260.         the Download Manager to work we need to check that the following
  261.         services are loaded in NT:
  262.         -For the Server version of NT: Gateway Service for Netware
  263.         -For the Workstation version of NT:  Client Services for NetWare.
  264.      Load these services by doing the following:
  265.               *  Click on Add Software.
  266.               *  Choose the right choice for your setup (Server or
  267.                  Workstation).
  268.               *  Click OK to add the service.
  269.      4. Select NW Link IPX/SPX Compatible Transport.  (This should be
  270.         loaded by default.)
  271.      5. Select Configure for NW Link IPX/SPX compatible transport.
  272.      6. Select any frame type except "Auto Detected".
  273.      7. Click Advanced... button
  274.      8. Enter an the internal network "55555555".
  275.      9. Click OK, then restart the machine to save the changes.
  276.      10.     After restarting, a screen will come up asking you to choose a
  277.         Novell server.  Click Cancel.  On the next box that comes up click
  278.         "yes".
  279.      11.     Run the HP Download Manager.
  280.      12.     Choose Auto Discovery.
  281.      13.     Click on Add Network button.
  282.      14.     Add a new network of "00000000".
  283.      15.     When Auto Discovery is finished, click OK.  When prompted,
  284.         save the file.
  285.      16.     Select "Use Autodiscovery File".  Select the file you just
  286.         created.
  287.      17.     Go to the current Subnet and choose the subnet of "55555555".
  288.         The JetDirect products should appear in the window.

  291.   MICROSOFT WINDOWS FOR WORKGROUPS
  292.      1. Look at the self test page under the Novell section to verify the
  293.         JetDirect print server does not have a network number for Novell.
  294.         If it does, then you can disregard the rest of these instructions.
  295.      2. Select the Network group.
  296.      3. Double click the Network Setup icon.
  297.      4. Click on the Drivers... button.
  298.      5. Select IPX/SPX Compatible Transport.  If it is not installed, Click
  299.         the Add Protocol... button.
  300.      6. Click on the Setup... button.
  301.      7. Select any frame type except "Not present".
  302.      8. Save the changes on each screen and exit Network.  At the prompt,
  303.         restart the machine.
  304.      9. Run the HP Download Manager*.
  305.      10.     Click on Specific Device button.
  306.      11.     Enter 00000000:080009xxxxxx.  xxxxxx is the last 6 digits of
  307.         the JetDirect hardware address.  This can be found on the self test
  308.         page. Click Add button.  Repeat this step for each JetDirect that
  309.         needs to be upgraded.
  310.      12.     Refer to the Download Manager Help screen for additional
  311.         instructions.

  314.           Note*:    Since AutoDiscovery does not work in this
  315.                     environment, you can simulate the
  316.                     AutoDiscovery process by creating an ASCII
  317.                     file that contains each JetDirect hardware
  318.                     address that you need to upgrade. Each line
  319.                     in the file must have the following format
  320.                     "0:080009xxxxxx".  Launch the HP Download
  321.                     Manager by running "hpdwnld <ASCII
  322.                     filename>".  Also, the ASCII file must be
  323.                     stored in the same directory as the
  324.                     hpdwnld.exe file.

  327.   MICROSOFT WINDOWS 95
  328.      1. Look at the self test page under the Novell section to verify the

  343.      11.     Click on Specific Device button.
  344.      12.     Enter 00000000:080009xxxxxx.  xxxxxx is the last 6 digits of

  411.      *  Did you use a binary transfer (if your download software requires
  412.         it) when you downloaded the software?
  413.      *  Does your environment meet the requirements specified in the
  414.         beginning of this document?
  415.      *  Are you trying to do anything other than upgrade a JetDirect print
  416.         server that is listed in the table in the beginning of the
  417.         document?
