  2.                       Award Flash Utility (v5.2c) Readme

  5. Please make sure that you have the correct BIOS ready and follow below
  6. instruction to reprogram the new BIOS.
  7.  
  8. [CHECKSUM.EXE]
  9.  
  10.         This utility will help you to determine if the BIOS has been
  11.         downloaded correctly or not.
  12.  
  13.         1. Execute "Checksum ********.BIN" from DOS prompt.
  14.         2. The utility will show "Checksum is ####".
  15.         3. Compare the "####" with original checksum posted on Web or BBS.
  16.         4. If they are in different, please do not proceed any further
  17.            and try to download the BIOS again.
  18.  
  19. [AWDFLASH.EXE]
  20.  
  21.         This utility will try to reprogram your system BIOS by using flash
  22.         memory technology. It will permanently replace your original BIOS
  23.         content after flashing. You may upgrade your system BIOS either by
  24.         batch file or manually execution.
  25.  
  26.    Batch File:
  27.  
  28.         1. Bootup the system from DOS prompt without loading any memory
  29.            manager (HIMEM, EMM386, QEMM386, ...).
  30.         2. Execute "flash.bat".
  31.         3. The batch file will automatically store original BIOS code into
  32.            your HDD or floppy with the file name of "OLDBIOS.BIN" & upgrade
  33.            your system BIOS with new code.
  34.         4. DO NOT turn off the power during "FLASHING".
  35.         5. Reboot the system by turn off the power after "FLASHING".
  36.         6. Press "DEL" key to enter BIOS setup during POST.
  37.         7. Reload the "BIOS SETUP DEFAULT" and reconfigure other items
  38.            as previous set.
  39.         8. Save & Exit. Done!
  40.         
  41.    Manually Execution:

  43.         1. Bootup the system from DOS prompt without loading any memory
  44.            manager (HIMEM, EMM386, QEMM386, ...).
  45.         2. Execute "awdflash ********.BIN".
  46.         3. After loading the new BIOS code, the utility will prompt you to 
  47.            save original BIOS code into your HDD or floppy. Please press "Y"
  48.        to store it as "BIOS.OLD".
  49.     4. After the old BIOS has been secussfully saved, press "Y" to 
  50.        replace BIOS. 
  51.         5. DO NOT turn off the power during "FLASHING".
  52.         6. Reboot the system by turn off the power after "FLASHING".
  53.         7. Press "DEL" key to enter BIOS setup during POST.
  54.         8. Reload the "BIOS SETUP DEFAULT" and reconfigure other items
  55.            as previous set.
  56.         9. Save & Exit. Done!

  58.     Note: You may load back original BIOS "BIOS.OLD" by the same 
  59.           procedure.
