  1.                 AOpen TX Utility Readme Version 1.0 (May 9, 1997)

  5.         Before installation, please make sure that you have read all of 
  6.      following installation notice.
  7.      
  8.      1) Introduction:
  9.      
  10.         Intel has introduced 430TX chipset with latest feature of "ACPI",   
  11.      "USB" & "Ultra DMA/33". Since these devices are so new that Win'95  
  12.      did not anticipate to support them on Aug. of '95 which Win'95      
  13.      initially is being released. Under Win'95 Device Manager, you may  
  14.      see following devices installed:
  15.                
  16.         -Other Devices
  17.            ? PCI Bridge
  18.            ? PCI Card (or PCI Universal Serial Devices)
  19.         -Hard Disk Controllers
  20.            Standard Dual PCI IDE Controller
  21.            Primary IDE Controller
  22.            Secondary IDE Controller
  23.      
  24.         Although your system will still work fine with this "?" exist. We 
  25.      received many requests about how to eliminate it. AOpen driver team 
  26.      spends few weeks to develop this utility for convenience of Win95 
  27.      users. It is very user friendly and can be used on any TX mainbaord, 
  28.      not limited to AOpen AP5T/AX5T. You are welcome to distribute it, 
  29.      simply say thanks to our driver team.

  32.      2) Before installation:
  33.      
  34.         Please determine the version of Windows '95 on your system by 
  35.      following steps,
  36.                
  37.              1. Double click "System" in "Control Panel". 
  38.              2. Click "General".
  39.              3. Look for "System" heading & refer to following,
  40.                
  41.                
  42.                      4.00.950                Windows 95
  43.                      4.00.950A               Windows 95 + Service Pack
  44.                                              or OEM Service Release 1
  45.                      4.00.950B               OEM Service Release 2
  46.                                              or OEM Service Release 2.1
  47.                
  48.         If you are running OSR 2.1, you may tell it from by checking "USB   
  49.      Supplement to OSR2" in the list of installed program of Add/Remove   
  50.      program tool under Control Panel, and checking for version 4.03.1212 
  51.      of the Ntkern.vxd file in the Windows\System\Vmm32 folder.

  54.      3) Installation Procedure
  55.      
  56.       A. If you are Windows 95 (950/950A) User
  57.      
  58.         1. Start system & execute TX.EXE under Windows'95.
  59.         2. TX utility will identify your Windows'95 version. Please select  
  60.            & click the icon which applies to your system by following the   
  61.            instruction "Your O.S. system is:<<Window95 4.00.XXXX>>".
  62.         3. Automatically reboot.
  63.         4. Windows 95 will recognize the presence of the Intel 82439TX &    
  64.            82371AB controller during Windows 95 start up.
  65.         5. When Windows 95 prompt & ask for the driver of "Intel 82371AB    
  66.            PCI Bus Master IDE Controller", please select "Windows default   
  67.             driver" by pressing "OK".
  68.         6. Select "Yes" for rebooting.
  69.         7. After complete start up, the following devices will be created & 
  70.            recognized under Device Manager:

  72.             -Other Devices
  73.                ? PCI Card
  74.             -Hard Disk Controllers  
  75.                Intel 82371AB PCI Bus Master IDE Controller 
  76.                Primary IDE Controller
  77.                Secondary IDE Controller
  78.             -System Devices
  79.                Intel 82371AB PCI to ISA Bridge
  80.                Intel 82371AB Power Management Controller
  81.                Intel 82439TX Pentium(r) Processor to PCI Bridge

  83.         Note: PCI Card stands for the presence of the Universal Serial      
  84.                Controller. There is no direct upgrade path available from   
  85.                Microsoft at this moment. USB is formally supported by       
  86.                Windows'95 OSR 2.1 or expected to be implemented within      
  87.                Windows'97(Memphis).

  89.       B. If you are Windows 95 OSR 2.0 or OSR 2.1 (950B) User
  90.      
  91.          If you are Win'95 OSR 2.0 user, you may upgrade it to OSR 2.1 by   
  92.       obtaining "USBSUPP.EXE" from Microsoft or your OEM system provider    
  93.       for installing Microsoft USB supplement which will create "USB        
  94.       Supplement to OSR2" in the list of Add/Remove program tool under      
  95.       Control Panel.

  97.         1. Start system & execute TX.EXE under Windows'95.
  98.         2. TX utility will identify your Windows'95 version. Please select  
  99.            & click the icon which applies to your system by following the   
  100.            instruction "Your O.S. system is:<<Window95 4.00.XXXX>>".
  101.         3. Automatically reboot.
  102.         4. Windows 95 will recognize the presence of the Intel 82439TX &    
  103.            82371AB controller during Windows 95 start up.
  104.         5. When Windows 95 prompt & ask for the driver of "Intel 82371AB    
  105.            PCI Bus Master IDE Controller", please press "Next" icon.
  106.         6. Windows 95 will locate default driver automatically & select     
  107.            "Finish" to install.
  108.         7. Select "Yes" for rebooting.
  109.         8. After complete start up, the following devices will be created & 
  110.            recognized under Device Manager if you are OSR 2.0 user:

  112.             -Other Devices
  113.                ? PCI Universal Serial Devices
  114.             -Hard Disk Controllers  
  115.                Intel 82371AB PCI Bus Master IDE Controller

  123.         9. If you are OSR 2.1 user, it will be:

  138.      4) Bus Master/Ultra DMA 33 Driver

  140.         Bus Master/Ultra DMA 33 driver for Windows '95 is available from 
  141.      AOpen homepage also. Please download the driver & install it for 
  142.      maximum performance under Windows'95. After installation, you will see 
  143.      following under Device Manager:
