<p> Hold the stylus as you would for writing. <b><i>Start slowly</i></b> - you won't be accurate immediately. Learn words by repeating them until you get them right. Get used to InScribe by inscribing song lyrics, favorite quotes, or simple word lists. Your accuracy will improve quickly with practice and experimentation.
<p>Try various ways of making character combinations, until you find the ones you like best. Especially at first, you may prefer to <b><i>lift your stylus</i></b> to make spaces, rather than using the space key on the character table. Some people prefer to make slightly curved lines between characters, others prefer straight lines. Remember that pausing, as well as forming angles, will register characters.
<p>You can use the repeat key or just make angles within a character's box to repeat it. Try both, and see which you like best.
<p>To record several characters in the same row or column, make a slight angle between them. For example, to record three characters in the same column, go from the left side of the first to the right side of the second to the left side of the third.
<p>Select (with <b>Open Layout</b>) or <a href="file:is_chars.htp">design your own</a> character table early so that you don't have to get used to a new one.
<p>When designing your character table, select <b>Add Characters</b> from the <b>Layout</b> menu for a list of all the characters you can use, including international characters. You might want to add a whole new row or column to an existing layout so you can add international characters without losing any characters that are already there.
<p>You can resize the character table and text box by dragging the resize bar between the two areas.
<p>Choose a <b>Text</b> font or size that's comfortable for you to read.
<p>Don't try to be perfect: you can always go back and edit your text on your desktop PC.
<p>Work in more than one file at once by opening several copies of InScribe.
