  5. Here's Alpha.05 of C-Kermit 6.0.193.  This is still a closed Alpha (i.e.
  6. pre-Beta) test -- we're not ready for open public testing yet.  Details about
  7. the new version are given in the text files mentioned towards the end of this
  8. message.  Let me know if you want off the announcement list.

  10. GENERAL CHANGES SINCE ALPHA.04

  12.  . Now you can specify up to 8 "trigger" strings to cause automatic return
  13.    from CONNECT mode.  See Section 3 of CKERMIT2.UPD.

  15.  . Partial completion of keywords added to the interactive command parser
  16.    (it already did partial completion of filenames).  Plus various minor
  17.    corrections and improvements in the command parser, e.g. more consistent
  18.    treatment of braces in switch arguments, missing beeps supplied when
  19.    trying to complete something that could not be completed, etc.

  21.  . Client end of REMOTE HELP, REMOTE COPY, and REMOTE RENAME fixed.

  23. UNIX-SPECIFIC CHANGES

  29.  . No further progress on IRIX 6.2.  I haven't been able to locate a
  30.    development system that supports the new high serial speeds.

  32. VMS-SPECIFIC CHANGES

  34.  . "CD" by itself now uses SYS$LOGIN rather than getenv("HOME").  Hopefully
  35.    this will correct the problem reported when logging in to an account
  36.    whose home directory is a search list (e.g. on a cluster).

  38.  . One last attempt at keeping NO CARRIER message from getting lost before
  39.    "Communications disconnect" message.
  40.  
  41.  . No progress on other pending items (transfer of files with odd record
  42.    lengths, strange attributes, etc).
