(1.1) About the Author
Yeah, I'm a Doom addict, I admit it. Soon after I had finished Doom, I
wanted more. That's when I started discovering all the add-on's for Doom. It
was great! I started playing levels with their own graphics, sounds, music,
the whole nine yards. It kept me playing Doom. But then I started wondering,
why can't I make my own add-on? Complete with new graphx, music, sounds, and
levels? But I wanted it to be based around a theme. This was before SWDOOM's
announcement. And even before Aliens-TC. When Doom add-ons were quite scarce.
I wanted to do a theme. So there I was, thinking hard about it. Wondering
what would best work with Doom. And then it came to me. TERMINATOR 2! Why
not? It was the best action movie I have ever seen, not to mention the plot was
great. There you are, a lone warrior, faced up against the machines with a
shotgun and a bad attitude.
Not too long after, I toyed with the idea, inserted some sounds and played
around with hacking the EXE file. It all started to come together. It would
work! So here it is. Info on the next upcoming patch, TERMINATOR DOOM. I
figured people would be interested to know one is in the works, and that
you'll soon be able to blast away T-800's!
(1.2) Info doc overview
This is the first release and announcement of Terminator Doom(TERMDOOM).
This should answer most of the questions anyone has about it, or people that
are just curious.. It includes information on level changes, graphx changes,
the story, and all that good stuff you've come to know that info docs
provide.. I will also keep this doc updated as time goes on..
=============================<2> THE STORY====================================
(2.1) What is Terminator Doom?
Terminator Doom is a patch made for the almighty DOOM game. It will
replace graphics, sounds, levels and the like.. It will be based on the movie
Terminator 2, and will follow the movie as much as possible.
Well, there is alot of WADs out there, and you have to ask yourself
"What makes this different?". Well, for starters it's based around a totally
different theme. New monsters, new weapons, new levels. It's something new.
And for anyone who loved T2, (like me) it's a plus. :)
You'll be able to go face to face with a T-800. Try to stop a T-1000. Run
across the destroyed city and then be targeted by a Air based Hunter-Killer.
Blow away security sentries, and try to shut down Skynet! Check out the
nuclear wreakage as you're running through the tunnels from a skinned
Terminator. And if you can shut down Skynet, travel back through time to the
year 1995, and stop Skynet's last attempt raid on the city. Expect for
details to be paid close attention to. Run through the city, and run into a
fire hydrant. Check out the skyrise infested with T-1000's! Watch the cities
burn as the machine ravage through Downtown.
(2.2) The Theme
Los Angeles 2029 A.D. Three billion lives ended on August 29th, 1997. The
survivors of the nuclear fire called the war Judgement Day. They lived only
to face a new nightmare. The war against the machines.
You're John Conner, being held, awaiting termination at a Human
Incarceration camp. You will have to escape, lead the human resistance and
defeat Skynet. When all is said and done, Skynet makes it's last attempt at
saving itself. It sends a T-800 to the year 1984 to kill Sarah Conner, and
then sends a T-1000 back to kill John Conner(yourself). Then it sends an army
of it's last units available to the year 1995. To rid of human infestation,
you must stop the raid.
==========================<3> WHOS MAKING TERMDOOM?===========================
(3.1) Who's involved?
Right now, since it's just being announced it's just me and Mishuma. Pretty
much I'm taking care of everything. And Mishuma is helping out with some
level designs. I have gotten a few responses since I posted an announcement
on the Doom USENET group. But decisions on who's doing what most likely won't
be made until this doc is released. When I get a positive idea on what
everyone's wanting to do, I will list the staff in the next update.
(3.2) Help wanted

========================<4> WHEN WILL IT BE RELEASED?=========================
(4.1) Release Date
Well, I really can't promise anything. The best I can do right now, since
it's in such an early phase is take a guess. I'm planning on January. Maybe
earlier, maybe later. I'm working very hard on it, and I don't want to
sacrifice quality for time. I'm working toward this being the best patch out.
It shouldn't be out any later then January though..
=============================<5> MODIFICATIONS================================
(5.0) Graphics Overview
In order to make great looking sprites/textures, I'm using several 3D
programs that are capable of ray-tracing. Now for anyone that doesn't know
what ray-tracing is, lemme explain. Ray-tracing is the ability to make an
object look realistic in it's most simplest term. And believe me, it looks
great.:)
Right now I'm using the following programs, Crystal Topas, 3D studio, PC
paintbrush(for touch-up), and a few other programs for Palette/format
conversion. These ray-traced sprites and textures will make the game look
even better, and they will be ID quality...
Now as for the T-800 endoskeleton, I will be using the Diamond Video Star
for digitizing it from the model. That will be the only digitized sprite/
texture in the game.
(5.1) What has been done
So far, these are the thing's that have been done:

(5.2) New enemies!
Here's a list of the enemy's you'll run up against in Terminator Doom
and who they'll be replacing.

I think all of the replacements will fit correctly. Each one matches the
characteristics of the enemies. And the rest I can modify. Two of the enemies
were not in the movie(I.E. E-5000 Enforcement unit, and the Security sentry).
But I've got a purpose for both of'em.. :)
I regret to say the T-1000 will not morph, and is going to be in his metal
man image. I thought it would look cooler then in the police uniform like he
was in the movie. However I might change the skinned terminator(replacing
the sergeant) to the T-1000 morphed into a police uniform.. What do you
think?
The T-700 model, is an earlier version of the T-800. Their look's will be
similiar, but the T-700 also has alot of glitchs. And since Skynet has
resorted to all of it's resources, as quick as it can. It activated the old
T-700's. The idea behind this is quite funny. I wanted the T-800's to have
rapid fire. Like in the movie. But when I increased the duration, and changed
around the sprite frames of the troops, it didn't turn out how I planned.
Instead of them shooting off a few rounds, then moving on.. Once they saw
you, they didn't stop! Not to mention that if they're in a room together long
enough, you'll walk in and all of'em are dead, expect one.. So, why not make
an older model, that's cut off from Skynet's control? That's an easy way out!
And what's a terminator game without arnie? I just couldnt have that, so
the skinned terminator is the answer. How he'll be dressed, I dunno.
Possibility one:Dress him up in some kind of army uniform, as if he was trying
to infiltrate the human resistance forces and then programmed for the battle.
Possibility two: Use him only in the past at the city. And have him dressed
up in a leather jacket, and sun glasses(I like this one better!).
(5.3) New textures!
TERMDOOM will have completely new textures! Most of which will be ray-
traced. I'm really trying to avoid using any of the originals in the levels.
And of course, the textures will fit the level.. If you're on your way to
Skynet, you'll see nuclear wreakage, burned cars, skulls, blown up buildings.
When you're in the past, you'll see posters, brick walls, etc..
(5.4) New sounds!
The sounds you'll hear in TERMDOOM will match T2 perfectly, taken from the
movie. If you blow a hole in the T-1000, you'll hear that squishy sound.
Take a terminator out, you'll hear an electric discharge.. In fact, I've put
in most of the sounds already and they sound great!
(5.5) New Music!
Now music is a problem. I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to include new
music. I have the T2 theme, but I sure as heck can't play that in every
level! If I can find someone willing to help me out with music, I would like
to have it based off the movie soundtrack. Such as the chase scene in T2 when
John's running from the T-1000 on his motorcycle.
(5.6) New weapons!
Here's a list of the new weapons you'll use within TERMDOOM, and what
they'll replace:

The berratta replacing the pistol will be similiar to the weapon used by
the T-800 in T2. Now if your wondering what the Mini-gun is, lemme explain.
This is the weapon the T-800 used to fire at the police at Cyberdyne systems.
It's twice as fast then the Gatling gun, and much smaller. Now the Missle
launcher, I'm not sure about. I know I want to replace but I have several
ideas. One is to replace it with the "big gun" that the T-800 used in T2..
I have no idea what the name of it is, all I know is that it shoots huge
bullets! An example is when he used it to blow the door away inside Cyberdyne.
(5.7) New levels. A whole new episode!
There will be a total of nine new levels for TERMDOOM. I think it would be
tuff thinking of more levels to squeeze into another episode(unless someone
can give me some more ideas). The only drawback is that I'm not following
the movie exactly-exactly. I'm more or less adding on. I figured that just
going back through time and trying to stop the T-1000 would get a little old.
So I thought a raid on the city in the past would be alot better! Not to
mention the chance to battle Skynet's army in the future. Here's a list
of the levels..
MISSION 1:HUMAN INCARCERATION CAMP
You're being held, awaiting terminator in a Human incarceration camp. You
must escape, and shut down the incarcerators..
MISSION 2:BATTLE FIELD
You've escaped, and now you must reach Skynet and shut it down. Destroy H-K's
and T-800's along the way while you run through tunnels, old buildings, and
dodge bodies..
MISSION 3:ABANDONED FACILITY(COLORADO ROCKIES)
Now inside the Colorado rockies, you must get through the now abandoned
part of the army's facilities deep inside the mountain and get inside
Skynet's protected haven.
MISSION 4:SKYNET
Once inside, shut it down. Taking out all machines along the way! Once shut
down, travel back through time to stop the city raid Skynet has unleashed.
MISSION 5:THE PAST(DOWNTOWN 1995)
Landed smack dab in Times Square, find a weapon, and begin the fight against
the machines to save humanity!
MISSION 6:FURTHER IN THE CITY
Continue to destroy the army of machines, running thru theaters, bars, and
other buildings to complete your mission.
MISSION 7:CONCENTRATION
Get closer to stomping out Skynet's last attempt, wiping out any metal you
see! You notice the further you get, the more machines you see..
MISSION 8:SKYNET'S SURPRISE
Destroy the remaining machines, and wipe out Skynet's existence. You do all
of this to find out that Skynet brought itself back through time also!
MISSION 9:SECRET LEVEL(CYBERDYNE SYSTEMS)
As a bonus, or more of an assurance. You go to Cyberdyne systems to seal
Skynet's fate, only to find that it has already been blown up. But wait, you
spot T-800's rummaging through the wreakage. Get em!!

=========================<7> VERSION CONSIDERATION============================
(7.1) What version will TERMDOOM be for?
After thinking 'bout it for a long time, it will be for version 1.2 and
1.666. I think one reason is the episodes, it can work better if it's all as
one episode simply named,"Terminator Doom". There are other reasons too.. Not
to mention that there's not that many editors out for Doom 2, and not that
many people have Doom 2(yet)..
(7.2) Future Versions
If Terminator Doom becomes popular, or people really like it, I'll most
likely upgrade for use with Doom 2. With even more new characters, and
weapons and the like. And if people do like it, I'll probably release a
graphics/sounds package so people can make their own T2 levels.. :)
======================<8> WHAT DO I NEED FOR TERMDOOM?========================
(8.1) What's required
Well, of course you'll need the registered Doom game. If you don't have it
call ID and get it right away! When TERMDOOM is released it will contain
everything needed for updating. Terminator Doom will be half in WAD form,
the other half for modifying your EXE. because it will make such a major
modification to your Doom.exe file. I will need an Install program to make
the necessary changes, and a option to un-install. Similar to the famed
patch, ALIENS-TC.

(9.1) Copyright info
Just in case ya didn't know, Terminator nor the game DOOM is not my idea or
creation. James Cameron created the Terminator series, and the guys at ID made
DOOM. All other copyrights are acknowledged.
(9.2) Screen shots
Pretty soon I will be uploading screen shots to any place this doc can be
found. And a little later, I plan on uploading a quicktime movie clip of the
game itself.. So stay tuned.. :)
(9.3) Final Words
I'm working very hard to make Terminator Doom be just as great as the
movie. I've done alot of research, and watched the movies, all to make the
game as close to the movie as possible. So far the graphics I have done for
TERMDOOM look great! And the sounds are great too! Some of level sketches
we've made up look pretty exciting. I hope everyone looks just as forward
to this as I do finishing it to play it! :)
Of course I'm doing this just for fun(and for everyone else). And of course
it will be free. I wanted to let everyone know that this is being done so
everyone can get excited, anxious, and all that good stuff!
