Double Image for Windows 3.x and OS/2-WIN
Januay 1998
This release is Year 2000 ready -
Double Image for Windows is a copy program designed to
backup optical disks. Double Image for Windows uses a
special method for copying files This can save disk space
and time. Double Image for Windows is easy to use.
This release of Double Image for Windows requires Microsoft
Windows 3.1 or Newer, running in 386 Enhanced Mode. The
computer should have enough memory to allow programs to run
without slowing down.
When copying with only one drive, Double Image for Windows
will make at least two passes with each source and
destination disk. Therefore, if you are using a removable
floppy drive for both the source and destination drive, then
you are required to insert and remove the source and
destination floppy two times. The first pass reads in file
names, dates, and other attributes, and the second pass
copies the actual data. This is much faster than reading
and writing all data on each pass like most other copy
programs, especially if you are just freshening files from
one disk to another.
Installing Double Image for Windows:
To install Double Image for Windows place the
Installation disk in your floppy drive. From Program
Manager, choose FILE, then RUN. Type the letter of the
floppy drive, a colon, and `SETUP':
A:SETUP
Follow the directions given by the setup program.
How to use Double Image for Windows:
To start Double Image for Windows enter a source and
destination directory in the dialog box. Choose other
options, such as copy subdirectories, and file dates.
Please refer to HELP for more specific information. It
is a good idea to use the LOG facility of Double Image
for Windows. You can tell Double Image for Windows to
use an editor or list program of your choice. By
default NOTEPAD (comes with Windows 3.1) will be used,
but it does not hold very much log information.
New Information not covered in the manual:
When using Windows with Adaptec ASPI4DOS.EXE, some
users experience problems with their SCSI card when the
SYSTEM.INI file, TimerCriticalSection variable is
something other than 0. If you are having intermittent
problems with SCSI drives or devices, setting
TimerCriticalSection=0 may help. Please contact
Adaptec concerning these difficulties, they may have an
updated driver or be able to offer technical support
with SCSI cards.
12-27-97 Revision 2.20.00
-Ensured that date ranges work for years later
than 1999.

on files that are in use. A note is made in the
log of the un-copied file and the program continues.
07-19-95 Revision 2.10.08
Made changes to allow to work under Win-OS2
and DOS-OS/2.
09-21-94 Revision 2.10.07
Fixed a problem when permission denied occured on
the destination. The file was skipped okay, but
the source file was not ever closed.
Fixed problem with Pegasus disk change using a
single drive.
Fixed problem with Pegasus read only files.
(Introduced in 2.10.06)
Fixed bug where all error messages displayed `No
space left on device.' The correct error messages
are displayed now. (Introduced in 2.10.06)
Fixed bug copying locked files.
08-08-94 Revision 2.10.06
Fixed bug where if /C disk change was specified on
the command line before /R use swap file, Double
Image would not work. This bug was in the DOS
product only.
08-08-94 Revision 2.10.06
Fixed bug where Double Image, on WORM drives,
would 1) Write a file, 2) Set Date/Time of file,
3) Set attributes. Step 2) and 3) caused a lot of
disk space to be used up for directory entries.
Now Double Image combines step 1 and 2, and gives
the user the choice of setting attributes or
copying files with hidden and system attributes
set(step 3).
New attribute options are:
/Aa Copy archive bit
/Ar Copy read-only bit
New file copy options are:
/Fh Copy hidden files
/Fs Copy system files
The main screen has been updated to reflect more
attribute options.
