  11.  DESCRIPTION: This echo deals with the fundamentals of wilderness
  12.               travel, to include but not limited to mountaineering,
  13.               backpacking, camping, hiking, and various modes of
  14.               HUMAN/ANIMAL powered transportation in the wilderness;
  15.               exchanging technical ideas, discussions on equipment
  16.               used, and places to go; and sharing stories of personal
  17.               wilderness experiences.

  19.     Please note... This is not an enviromental, animal rights,
  20.               firearm, hunting, fishing, or automotive based echo.
  21.               There are other echoes to discuss these subjects in
  22.               technical detail.  However, the last four items may
  23.               be peripherally addressed as part of activities
  24.               involved in pursuing the wilderness experience.  The
  25.               moderator will let you know when you have strayed
  26.               too far.

  28.       RULES:    1. TRY NOT TO WANDER TOO FAR OFF TRAIL.
  29.               The description offers a broad base for subject
  30.               titles let us try to stay close to it. Do not
  31.               reply to off topic messages.

  33.                 2. NO FLAMES TO OTHER TRAIL FOLK.
  34.               We all have a different opinion, let's discuss
  35.               them not attack them.

  37.                 3. NO FOUL LANGUAGE.
  38.               Keep it clean for all to read. If you can't say it
  39.               on TV or radio you may not type it here.  A G to a
  40.               PG rating should do fine.

  42.                 4. NO BUSINESS AND BBS ADVERTISING.
  43.               This does not mean that you can't tell a fellow hiker
  44.               of a great deal at your local wilderness store, or
  45.               mail order catalog, or a tell them of a BBS that has
  46.               some outdoor information they need.

  48.                 5. CHANGE SUBJECT TITLE.
  49.               Sometimes we reply to PART of a message which
  50.               starts a "SpinOff" of the original subject title.
  51.               Please change the subject title so those who are
  52.               following the original title do not have to weed
  53.               through your spin-offs, and so that others who may
  54.               want to join in on your new subject title will
  55.               know that it is there.

  57.                 6. REAL NAMES ONLY.
  58.               Handles, nicknames, etc. are not permitted. Short
  59.               forms of first names are not considered nicknames.

  61.                 7. NO HIGH ASCII or ANSI CHARACTERS
  62.               Anything other than regular keyboard characters is
  63.               not permitted out of courtesy to sysops running
  64.               some older systems.

  66.                 8. LET THE MODERATOR DEAL WITH RULE VIOLATIONS.
  67.               Ignore any rule violation you see. When you reply to
  68.               off-topic/unwelcomed messages YOU just add to them.
