  10.            Rules for the Fidonet All Hobby Radio Conference
  11.            ------------------------------------------------

  13. In compliance with Fidonet Echo Policy, the following will be posted at
  14. least once a month.  These rules are in addition to any valid Fidonet
  15. rules or policy.  They may be updated at any time by the Moderator.
  16.  
  17. ALL USERS WHO POST IN THIS CONFERENCE MUST AGREE TO ABIDE BY THE RULES
  18. STATED HEREIN AND ALL PREVAILING FIDONET RULES AND POLICY.
  19.  
  20. This is the International Fidonet Echomail Conference RADIO_HOBBY-ALL.
  21. It is paid for by individual systems who help distribute it.  Please follow
  22. Conference Rules to help keep moving RADIO_HOBBY-ALL as cost effective as
  23. possible.
  24.  
  25. The Fidonet Echomail Conference RADIO_HOBBY-ALL is an echomail conference
  26. provided by the Fidonet amateur e-mail network.
  27.  
  28. Discussions are permitted of all hobby related radio such as micro-power FM,
  29. CB, scanners, shortwave, HAM, and GMRS.  Also, NON-COMMERCIAL buy/sell/trade
  30. of related hardware is welcome including soliciting of equipment, however
  31. COMMERCIAL REPLIES MUST NOT BE POSTED IN THE CONFERENCE.  They may be made
  32. via netmail or internet email.  Posters are encouraged to also post a contact
  33. voice phone number for commercial enquiries so the vendor may contact you
  34. directly.
  35.  
  36. Illegal acts or modifications to radio equipment will be OFF-TOPIC as well.
  37. In relation to scanning, listening to cell phone conversations or cordless
  38. phone conversations is illegal.  In addition, discussions of illegal
  39. modifications to radio receivers and transmitters is OFF-TOPIC.  Discussions
  40. of this type will not be tolerated.
  41.  
  42. No advertising is permitted.  This includes, but is not limited to,
  43. commercial products/services, BBS notices, BBS/other Files Lists. If you
  44. wish to claim an exception, please seek Moderator approval via netmail
  45. in advance of posting of such.  The *exception* to this shall be individuals
  46. selling *preowned* radio related items to fellow users in the conference.
  47. However, purchasing/haggling of price, etc. must be done via *NETMAIL* or
  48. another means but not in the conference.  In addition, users may solicit
  49. new product from vendors as long as the replies are solicited via *NETMAIL*,
  50. voice, or another means (*not* the conference).
  51.  
  52. DEBUG/UUENCODE file script postings are NOT permitted.  Posting of these
  53. type messages will be considered excessively annoying behavior.

  55. Flames or obscenities are not permitted either in posted or quoted form.
  56.  
  57. LEAVE MODERATING TO THE MODERATOR.  If you wish to chastise someone,
  58. then do it via netmail, or netmail the Moderator so that he can take
  59. action.
  60.  
  61. If a Topic or Thread is deemed off-topic by the Moderator, then take any
  62. discussion of such to netmail.
  63.  
  64. Posting "test" messages, are considered annoying behavior.
  65.  
  66. If in the message header the "From:" field is an alias, then include
  67. your real name at the bottom of the message.
  68.  
  69. Moving mail costs SysOps money.  Duplicate headers, signatures and
  70. tag-lines are considered space wasters and should be avoided.  Please do
  71. not "sign" messages unless your header name is an alias or you wish to
  72. post your Internet Email address.  If you must use a signature and a
  73. tag-line, they should be: (1) limited to 4 lines, (2) limited to 240
  74. characters, (3) not contain "fancy ASCII-graphics", and (4) not
  75. duplicate information already in the standard Origin Line.

  77. When quoting, quote ONLY pertinent information to get the original point
  78. across.  Quoting entire messages, signature/tag/origin lines is
  79. very annoying.

  81. Discussion of routine Fidonet information should be discussed with your
  82. SysOp or NC, not in this conference.
  83.  
  84. Eight-bit ASCII characters (>128) or ASCII control codes are not
  85. permitted, either in the message header, body, or tag/origin line, or
  86. cut/pastes from screen captures.
  87.  
  88. Origin lines must follow accepted Fidonet Echomail Policy.
  89.  
  90. Although this is an International Conference in nature, ENGLISH is the
  91. official accepted language.
  92.  
  93. This conference may NOT be ported to any other network without the
  94. express written permission of the Moderator.
  95.  
  96. Questioning Moderator Policy in the RADIO_HOBBY-ALL echo shall be
  97. considered excessively annoying.  Please use NETMAIL.  The Moderators
  98. are always open to discussion of echo policy and accept suggestions
  99. and comments via NETMAIL or EMAIL, however the final decision will always
  100. rest with the Moderators.

  102. The Moderators may take part in active discussion in the echo without
  103. necessarily acting in any official capacity, unless the message is
  104. posted "From: Moderator", signed "Moderator", or signed as below:
