--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome to the Fidonet OPEN_BIBLE Conference!
OPEN_BIBLE is for rightly dividing the Truth of Scripture.
Here are the rules as of April 1, 1998:
+-------------------------------------------+
| SYSOPS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CONTENT OF |
| MESSAGES ORIGINATING FROM THEIR SYSTEMS. |
+-------------------------------------------+
By posting in this echo, participants agree to uphold this policy.
This is an English-Speaking Conference. Please Post in English.
Three arrows ( i.e. >>> ) designates
recent adds or changes you should be aware of.
TO SYSOP'S WHO CARRY THIS CONFERENCE
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
By carrying this conference, Sysops of participating systems
agree to uphold this policy. In addition, refusal to accept
netmail from the Moderator of Co-Moderator will result in
immediate disconnect of feed.
Please send replies to all Moderator-Sysop issues to:
Harvey Smith, 1:100/519 Moderator OPEN_BIB, OPEN_BIBLE,
or to Shoshona Bieman, 1:103/505 ...
BLUEWAVE IS OFFICIAL OFFLINE READER
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
While not required, the Moderator recommends the use of the
BlueWave Offline Reader. It is both quick and easy to install
and use (excellent mouse and extended memory support too). It
supports nine out of ten BBS message bundle types in wide use
today including QWK (QWK, QW1, or QW2, etc.), Maximus, Telegard,
Opus, QBBS, RA, and SBBS. BlueWave should be available on a BBS
near you. If not, ask your SysOp for it.
"NO WARNING" POLICY ENFORCED
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Any first time violation may result in immediate loss of access
to this conference. Read carefully the limits contained herein;
you may not get a second chance if you violate them.
*** THIS ENVIRONMENT MAY BE OFFENSIVE TO YOU ***
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS IS NOT A CHRISTIAN ECHO.
Do not expect to find Christian harmony here. There are groups
of people who participate here who do not claim Christianity.
You will find total disagreement here on almost everything, and
with that, extreme controversy.
While I encourage you to express your convictions (even if they
are strong ones), be aware that others have strong opinions too.
You will come under quite a bit of scrutiny from opposing
viewpoints. Tolerance by the reader is crucial. Diplomacy is
advised at all times, and will get you the best results.
WHAT THE MODERATOR EXPECTS OF YOU!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Content of Topics/Messages
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The purpose of this conference is ultimately to provide a vehicle for
the seeking of Biblical Truth, and truth about the Bible. This is an
open forum for debate relating EXCLUSIVELY to the Holy Bible, it's
history and culture. This includes investigating the credentials of,
and methods used by, scholars who interpret related Biblical matters
(history, language, archeology, etc.)
PROHIBITED for All Participants
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
__ Claims/topics regarding religious organizations or religious
practices/tenants, that are not related to, or are not derived
directly from, the Bible. THIS IS NOT A COMPARATIVE RELIGIONS
CONFERENCE! This is an essential and central doctrine of the
policy for this conference.
__ Off-topic posts.
__ No personal Email or Net mail is allowed in the forum
__ Responses to messages violating this written policy.
__ Unsupported and/or unverifiable opinions/viewpoints/arguments.
__ Cut and paste commentaries.
__ Reprimands of another participant's behavior.
__ Grievances.
__ Offers to supply, or requests for, information via ground/air
mail or modem.
__ Posts containing your personal or work address, or phone
number.
__ Swearing of any kind (implied or otherwise).
__ Taglines or messages intended to goad/demean.
__ Prayers of any type.
__ Handles. Real names only please.
Note: Use netmail for any of the above.
Determinations Regarding Flaming
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In keeping with FidoNet Echo Policies, the following is used as a
guideline to determine if "flaming" is being practiced:
__ If you accuse someone of being "biased", "bigoted", or
otherwise dishonest in their study, YOU MUST give evidence of
such or your accusations will be interpreted by the Moderator
as slander without evidence (which is not permitted).
__ If you are accused of being "biased", "bigoted", or otherwise
dishonest in your study, and evidence is provided by the
accuser, YOU MUST face the challenge and prove otherwise. You
are on your own in this. If this makes you uncomfortable, DO
NOT POST YOUR GRIEVANCE IN THE ECHO, but rather answer the
accusation as best you can with your evidences.
__ If both the above cases are followed through by the
participants, the Moderator will not intervene. The readers
are left to their own conclusions.
