  4.                    WELCOME TO THE NFL ECHO
  5.  
  6.    The rules shall be enforced by the echo moderators.  They have
  7.  complete authority to limit access to any individual who purposefully
  8.  or repeatedly violates the rules or the purpose of the echo.  The 
  9.  rules shall be posted monthly or as deemed necessary by the 
  10.  moderators.  
  11.  
  12. ... PURPOSE:
  13.  
  14.    This echo is an open forum for the discussion of NFL football.  Any
  15.  topic related to NFL football is suitable for the echo with the
  16.  following exceptions:
  17.  
  18.   1) Fantasy Football or Rotisserie Football and their associated topics
  19.      such as league scoring, standings, etc....
  20.  
  21.   2) Trading Cards and their associated topics.
  22.  
  23.   3) Any kind of betting, contests (Particularly weekly pick contests), 
  24.      or pools.
  25.  
  26.   4) Commercial products such as CD's, software, clothing, 1-900 numbers
  27.      etc....
  28.  
  29.   5) Other football leagues such as the WFL, WLAF, USFL, CFL, the Arena
  30.      football league, etc....
  31.  
  32.   6) Any discussion of O.J. Simpson regarding anything other than his 
  33.      NFL Football career.
  34.   
  35.   7) The political and social implications of team nicknames.
  36.  
  37.    These topics are better suited for other echoes or netmail.
  38.  
  39.    Any other topic loosely connected to NFL football will be allowed.
  40.  The moderators may steer threads away from certain topics at their
  41.  discretion.  For instance, the tight end prospect at State University
  42.  is a legitimate topic for the NFL Echo but State University's 4th
  43.  quarter drive against State College isn't.

  45. ... FAN BEHAVIOUR:
  46.  
  47.    There are many good-natured sports fans who like to kid and gloat
  48.  over their favorite team's/player's success and this is acceptable.
  49.  They may also chide you about your team.  This is "razzing" and is
  50.  part of the fun.  However, this type of message has a cumulative
  51.  effect.

  53. ---                KNOW WHEN TO SAY WHEN
  54.  
  55.    Messages which contain personal or malicious attacks on other users
  56.  of this echo will NOT be tolerated.  The moderators will enforce this
  57.  rule strenuously.

  69.    Advertising in the NFL Echo is prohibited.  That includes NFL-related
  70.  products.  BBS ads are also prohibited.

  74.    Taglines are allowed in the NFL Echo.  They may be one line in 
  75.  length.  Longer taglines and multiple taglines are prohibited.  
  76.  Note:  Sysops advertising their board should especially take notice of 
  77.  this rule.

  79. ... LANGUAGE:

  81.    Profanity is not allowed.  The "F" word will garner a warning at the
  82.  very least.

  84. ... EXTENDED IBM ASCII CHARACTERS ("HIGH" ASCII):

  86.    These characters are prohibited in the echo.

  88. ... TEST MESSAGES:

  90.    Test messages are a bit of a nuisance but they are generally sent by
  91.  sysops that are new to the NFL Echo or new to Fidonet.  Moderators and 
  92.  ONLY moderators should respond to them.

  94. ... ALIASES:
  95.  
  96.    This echo is a real-name echo.  If you wish to use an alias, you
  97.  may do so, provided you leave your real name in the body of the
  98.  message somewhere.  A signature is most widely used and is 
  99.  acceptable.

  101. ... CARBON COPY MESSAGES:

  103.    Carbon copying a message to several participants is prohibited.  
  104.  Address it to "All" or "All xxx fans".

  106. ... NEWS ARTICLES:

  108.    Posting articles gleaned from the Associated Press or the Internet
  109.  or any other news source is only to be done if it's timely and it 
  110.  relates to the topic you're responding to.  This echo is about 
  111.  hearing your views, not theirs.

  113. ... BANNED OR SUSPENDED USERS:
  114.  
  115.    Messages to or from banned or suspended users are considered 
  116.  off-topic by the moderators.

  132.  by a moderator, it will be handled via netmail with few exceptions.
