  8.   MODEMS (Discussion of Modems) Conference Rules, last modified 3/5/98

  10. The purpose of the MODEMS echo is to provide a forum for discussion of
  11. all modem brands and models (anything from 1200 and up), but with primary
  12. focus on high speed modems in particular.  Related topics include modem
  13. setups, init. strings, and configurations.
  14.  
  15. No flames or inflammatory posts.  This includes personal insults as well
  16. as "product bashing".  Debates are allowed, just try to keep them civil.
  17. Personal disagreements should be taken to netmail.
  18.  
  19. Alias identities and handles are not permitted.  You must use your real name.
  20.  
  21. The use of ANSI and the IBM extended character set is not permitted.
  22.  
  23. Posting or quoting Internet routing and other off-topic information is not
  24. permitted.  No advertisements of any type are allowed. Violators of this rule
  25. may not receive any warning.  This is the "No Spam" rule subject to the
  26. interpertation of the moderator!  Posting addresses other than for Fidonet
  27. Netmail is discouraged.

  29. Hubs and other feeds are not permitted to edit/modify the contents of this
  30. echo.  If there is a problem it should be brought to the moderator's attention.

  32. English is the prefered language for this conference.  If you can't be
  33. understood, you won't get far.

  35. Tags are limited to one line (80 characters including spaces & punctuation).

  37. Obscenities are not permitted.

  39. Communication of information is what this conference is all about. The easiest
  40. way to facilitate meaningful communication is to quote the pertinent portion(s)
  41. of any message you reply to. This way even those who are just picking up on the
  42. thread will have some sort of insight as to what is being written about.

  44. If you have modem questions and/or answers, bring your real name and come
  45. join the conference.
