  10. This is the "Legend of the Red Dragon" echo, tag name LORD.  By receiving 
  11. and participating in this echo, you agree to be bound by the rules of this 
  12. echo and the decisions of the moderators, who are..

  21.  Each SysOp receiving this conference is responsible for any and all
  22.  traffic into this forum that originates from/through his/her system.

  24.  If you chose to use this echo, then please conduct yourself according to 
  25.  these rules.  If these rules do not suit you, then please feel free to take 
  26.  advantage of other echos or nets.

  28.  If you either violate the echo rules or choose to confront either another 
  29.  user or the moderator, then expect to loose access quickly.  Participation 
  30.  in any echo is a privilege and NOT a right.  FidoNet is not a democracy by 
  31.  nature.  You do NOT have freedom of speech in this echo.  Do NOT ask for 
  32.  same.

  34.  The moderator is an appointed, not elected position, with the method of
  35.  appointment at the discretion of the moderator.

  37.  These rules will be subject to change at the sole discretion of the 
  38.  MODERATOR.  Enforcement of the rules may be handled both in the echo or via 
  39.  NETMAIL (or both).  This again, is at the moderator's discretion.

  41.  Certain violations WILL cause your access to be terminated immediately with
  42.  no warning.  These include asking for registration codes; hacked codes,
  43.  stolen codes.  This pertains to ANY shareware software, INCLUDING IGMs!

  51.  Rule #1:
  52.    Please keep your language suitable to all ages. Remember this message
  53.      base is open to all age groups and some may take offense to foul
  54.      language. Substitution of other characters, such as an asterisk, in
  55.      a guise to hide foul language is NOT allowable either. Quoting back
  56.      foul language shall be dealt with even more harshly than the original
  57.      poster. This is a G rated echo, even though the LORD DOOR GAME can be 
  58.      "R" rated.

  61.  Rule #2:
  62.    The topic here is LORD.  LORD, LORD II, LORD's IGMs, "cheat" codes, and
  63.      the installation software.  Although the topic might vary please attempt 
  64.      to keep it on the topic of LORD & LORD II.

  67.  Rule #3:
  68.    If someone asks for advice on a IGM set up or is looking for a
  69.      particular IGM, feel free to offer advice or to mention that you
  70.      have what they are looking for.  But see rule # 4.

  73.  Rule #4:
  74.    BBS notices of files available for FREQ are limited to four post
  75.      per month.  The only exception to this is the announcement of a new
  76.      release and rule #3 above.  If you are giving addresses and phone
  77.      numbers for FREQ, please be sure they are correct and that any magic
  78.      name quoted is also working by all systems listed as having the door
  79.      available.

  84.    Message Formats:
  85.  
  86.    1.  Keep the message-quoting to a minimum!  Most BBS's are run out of the
  87.      pockets of private sysops, and nobody wants to pay for (or see) a
  88.      20-line message quoted in full to have somebody else say, "I Agree."
  89.     
  90.    2.  The basic conventions of American capitalization will be used.  In
  91.      other words:
  92.  
  93.        1.  Do not use "ALL CAPS."  (It is considered SHOUTING and is quite
  94.            annoying.)
  95.        2.  Do not use "UNevEN LEttERinG."  (It is annoying to read.  But 
  96.            most important, some "text to speech" programs are unable to
  97.            translate the words correctly.

  99.    3.   NO HANDLES ALLOWED!  Real Names Only!  If the BBS Software from 
  100.      which you are posting does not allow you to post your real name in the 
  101.      Header of the message, you must post your real name at the end of the 
  102.      message.

  104.    4.  NO ANSI OR HIGH ASCII ALLOWED!  (It garbles some people's messages!)
  105.  
  106.    5.  NO UUENCODED Messages/Files will be put in this Echo.
  107.  
  108.    6.  NO PGP-SIGNED Messages will be put in this Echo. (This isn't really
  109.      "encrypting" messages, but it is a incredible waste of bandwidth!)

  111.    7.  DO NOT re-post messages in this base and direct same to another user
  112.      or participant of this echo.
  113.     
  114.    8.  Signature blocks are not allowed.  The signature lines should not ever
  115.      exceed four lines in total.  Unless you are giving more information for
  116.      interested parties to directly contact you via a voice line, a FAX line
  117.      or an E-Mail address.
  118.     
  119.    9.  Taglines may NOT be multiple or offensive in nature.
  120.     
  121.   10.  Do not quote origin, tag, or signature lines.

  124.  Rule #6:
  125.    PERSONAL attacks are NEVER allowed against either a participant in this
  126.      echo *or* the Moderator.  This *can* constitute grounds for your
  127.      IMMEDIATE removal from the echo.  Religious and/or ethnic derogatory
  128.      remarks of any nature are never permitted.  Try to keep this a fun place
  129.      where we can all learn and ask for help when we need it.

  132.  Rule #7:
  133.    This echo area is often not understood by BBS users who post here
  134.      in error.  Please do not respond.  This only encourages unproductive
  135.      conversations.  Replying to an off topic message is also OFF TOPIC.

  138.  Rule #8:
  139.    Any LORD or IGM programming discussions are totally allowable and
  140.      encouraged between authors and aspiring authors, including mutual
  141.      discussions and help on programming in any language with regard to
  142.      IGM's and/or support to registered users.

  145.  Rule #9:
  146.    Encrypted, encoded or rotated messages (including chain messages) are
  147.      forbidden.

  150.  Rule #10:
  151.    BBS ads for promotion of a particular BBS *or* Network are expressly
  152.      prohibited.  The only exception to this is if you run a FREE BBS and
  153.      provide a toll free 800 number.  Posts in order to obtain more players
  154.      for a certain game on one particular BBS is also forbidden.

  157.  Rule #11:
  158.    FidoNet's LORD may not be gated into any other Network without
  159.      the express, written permission of the Moderator.  The LORD echo
  160.      is the property of Fred Speir and is allowed to be distributed by 
  161.      FidoNet via normal FidoNet normal distribution channels.  Distribution 
  162.      rights or partial distribution rights are revocable at any time either 
  163.      in entirety or in part.

  166.  Rule #12:
  167.    All rules violations are to be addressed ONLY by the Moderator.  If you
  168.      receive a Moderator warning of some sort, your rebuttal or response to
  169.      the Moderator may only be made via NETMAIL.  No debating or complaining
  170.      about Moderator rules or rulings is ever allowed in the echo.  Violation
  171.      of same *may* cause your IMMEDIATE removal from this echo with no
  172.      further warning.
