  10.            The Fidonet Home Automation & Security Conference

  13. In compliance with Fidonet Echo Policy, the following will be posted at
  14. least once a month.  These rules are in addition to any valid Fidonet
  15. rules or policy.  They may be updated at any time by the Moderator.
  16.  
  17. ALL USERS WHO POST IN THIS CONFERENCE MUST AGREE TO ABIDE BY THE RULES
  18. STATED HEREIN AND ALL PREVAILING FIDONET RULES AND POLICY.

  20. This is the International Fidonet Echomail Conference HOME_AUTOMATION.
  21. It is paid for by individual systems who help distribute it.  Please follow
  22. Conference Rules to help keep moving HOME_AUTOMATION as cost effective as
  23. possible.

  25. The Fidonet Echomail Conference HOME_AUTOMATION is an echomail conference
  26. provided by the Fidonet amateur e-mail network.
  27.  
  28. Discussions are permitted of all related Home Automation & Security, and
  29. basically anything dealing with this new emerging industry dealing with
  30. marrying technology with the home and activities surrounding the home.
  31. In addition, discussions are also permitted on Auto Security systems.
  32.  
  33. No advertising is permitted.  This includes, but is not limited to,
  34. commercial products/services, BBS notices, BBS/other Files Lists. If you
  35. wish to claim an exception, please seek Moderator approval via netmail
  36. in advance of posting of such.  The exception to this shall be individuals
  37. selling **USED** home automation type items to fellow users in the
  38. conference.  However, purchasing/haggling of price, etc. must be done via
  39. *NETMAIL* or another means but not in the conference.  In addition, users
  40. may solicit new product from vendors as long as the replies are solicited
  41. via *NETMAIL*, voice, or another means (*not* the conference).
  42.  
  43. DEBUG/UUENCODE file script postings are NOT permitted.  Posting of these
  44. type messages will be considered excessively annoying behavior.
  45.  
  46. Flames or obscenities are not permitted either in posted or quoted form.
  47.  
  48. LEAVE MODERATING TO THE MODERATOR.  If you wish to chastise someone,
  49. then do it via netmail, or netmail the Moderator so that he can take
  50. action.

  52. If a Topic or Thread is deemed off-topic by the Moderator, then take any
  53. discussion of such to netmail.

  55. Posting "test" messages, shall be considered very annoying behavior.
  56.  
  57. If in the message header the "From:" field is an alias, then include
  58. your real name at the bottom of the message.
  59.  
  60. Moving mail costs SysOps money.  Duplicate headers, signatures and
  61. tag-lines are considered space wasters and should be avoided.  Please do
  62. not "sign" messages unless your header name is an alias or you wish to
  63. post your Internet Email address.  If you must use a signature and a
  64. tag-line, they should be: (1) limited to 4 lines, (2) limited to 240
  65. characters, (3) not contain "fancy ASCII-graphics", and (4) not
  66. duplicate information already in the standard Origin Line.

  68. When quoting, quote ONLY pertinent information to get the original point
  69. across.  Quoting entire messages, signature/tag/origin lines is
  70. annoying.

  72. Discussion of routine Fidonet information should be discussed with your
  73. SysOp or NC, not in this conference.
  74.  
  75. Eight-bit ASCII characters (>128) or ASCII control codes are not
  76. permitted, either in the message header, body, or tag/origin line, or
  77. cut/pastes from screen captures.

  79. Origin lines must follow accepted Fidonet Echomail Policy.
  80.  
  81. Although this is an International Conference in nature, ENGLISH is the
  82. official accepted language.

  84. This conference may NOT be ported to any other network without the
  85. written permission of the Moderator.

  87. Questioning Moderator Policy in the HOME_AUTOMATION echo shall be
  88. considered excessively annoying.  Please use NETMAIL.  The Moderator
  89. is always open to discussion of echo policy and accept suggestions
  90. and comments via NETMAIL or E-Mail.

  92. The Moderators may take part in active discussion in the echo without
  93. necessarily acting in any official capacity, unless the message is
  94. posted "From: Moderator", signed "Moderator", or signed as below:
